Hi Guys: OK, this may sound like a dumb question and I've hesitated to post it for a week now, but as my Mom says; "Nobody sweats the details like Carl" so I have to ask it even if I sound stupid. I'm using a new (Nissan rebuilt) distributor on my rebuilt engine and the distributor that came from Courtesy does not have the housing that actually mounts to the Timing cover. Yu have to use your old one. Where you separate the distributor from the mounting base there is a "degree'd scale" that has markings for amounts of advance or retard. Now, this is NOT the place where you rotate the distributor to set timing when doing a tune-up. It seems to be set (at the factory?)…

I just bought a 75 280Z. It runs well when warm, and the person I bought it from told me that it needed a new air regulator. The idle on the car is set at 1100 for this reason so it won't die when cold. But this wreaks havoc on my gas mileage. I was able to repair the high/low beam switch, would it be possible to repair the air regulator. I was thinking if I could flush it out with a solvent would it start working again. This is a $117 part so it would be worth fixing. Or should I quit being a :stupid: and just pony up for a new one. BTW the car does stutter and miss when cold but runs very nice when warm. Thanks

Id kinda like to strip off any non essentials off my engine (a/c, smog, etc.) in order to get rid of some weight and clean up my engine compartment. Its FI and Id like to keep anything vacuum actuated working properly. Anyone seen any tutorials regarding this? oh yeh, my cars 2 years out of smog regulation so that isnt a problem :-)

Hi I've been searching through the forum posts looking for information on replacing my radiator. I noticed that Griffrin radiators seemed highly recommended along with the MSA 4 row radiator. Which Griffrin radiator fits in a 260z? Which between the two would offer better performance? I'll probably be using the car mostly for just cruising with the occaisional racing (I want to do SCCA and maybe some drag racing).

has anybody here tried this muffler? how do you like it? how did it sound? i heard from sombody that manages a independantly owned exaust shop, that the best "glass-pack" type muffler i could get would be a twister. i'm planning in getting a new 2 1/2" custum exaust system done soon. btw, my car is a 240z mostly stock, soon to be built for autox. here is the website: http://shop.ivalueinternet.com/bigexhaust/index.cfm/action/productdetail/product_id/551.htm thanks

The problem is annoying resonance from 2000 to 2500 revs. I have an l26 with headers, 2.25 pipe, hotdog with turboflow muffler. It's been trial and error starting with replacing the hotdog with a smaller one. This helped but it was still a little loud. I then replaced the big ricer chrome "straight through" rear resonator with a turboflow muffler. Much better. Still sounds great at idle. I expected my torque range to drop a little but I was pleasantly surprised by how much more pick up i got from 2000 rpm to 4000rpm. Now the only problem is the resonance I am getting at the 2000-2500 range. Is there a way of getting rid of the droning without further changing my exhaust? …

I’m about to start assembling the Cylinder Head and Timing parts onto my recently rebuilt L24 short block and I need some guidance from all of you L24 Experts out there. This is a completely stock engine, cylinders were over-bored .50mm, and since the crankshaft was in excellent shape, it was just polished. I have a stock early E88 Rebello rebuilt Cylinder head, all new Timing Components, and Oil/Water pumps to install. After the engine is up and running, I plan to install ZTherapy SU’s to top it all off. I’ve done this a couple of times, but it has been almost 20 years since the last time, so my memory needs major refreshing and I’d like your opinions, guidan…

I will soon be getting a head that was rebuilt a couple years ago and has never been used or installed on a block. Are there any special considerations that I should be aware of before trying to bolt it on and use it?
