   HKS exhaust on 280ZX 2+2

   i went to a local shop & they found HKS makes an exhaust for the 280ZX, but it doesn't specify whether it's for the coupe or 2+2. i read thru the Victoria-British catalog & they mention an "adaptor pipe." is this the difference between the 2 cars? i know any exhaust shop can fab the right size pipe, just wanna know if i gotta tell the shop to do this, or will HKS add it?.

   Here is the scoop - Fresh hone and rings in .030 over flat top pistons in the L24. laped the valves on the N47 and assembeled with new gaskets.(cylinder compression is at 180 psi across all 6 cylinders) I have the fuel injection for the '78 head all figured out. Last night i started it up. Started up on the first piston to the top- i was excited!!! After timing it - i let it run about 8-10 min. to clear the cylinders of the assembly oil and seat the rings alittle. I shut it off to have a celibration ciggerette. I have oil dripping out of the header - I ran it some more - Dripped alot more - ran it some more - dripped more - after about 1 hour of the smokie shop i decided …

   Where to get head work done

   After taking my head apart I found a ton of carbon built up and it still has the broze seats and guides. Is there any shop you would recommend to send it to for the head work? I really don't want to trust it to a shop not familiar with the engine. I saw MSA sells rebuilt heads for $460 or something. Would it be worth just buying one of those?

   Hey I checked out my spark plugs yesterday and saw that the # 5 spark plug is leaking oil around where the spark plug goes into the block what is this a sign of? Frankenstein Z

   I bought my 75 280z last summer. The guy who I bought it from had a bad starter on it (We both think it was). The car was running. He had to turn it a few times until it would catch & crank up. I bought a re-man starter early last Fall and I still made that clicking noise at the starter. Could the starter still be bad? Could it be the Ign Relay? My battery cables are new & tight. The wire to the solenoid is clean. HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!1

    this maay be a stupid question but.. do i really have to put 91 octane in my car? gas is sooo expensive and my car is just stock, its a 78 280z. does the octane depend on what the engine compression is? what is the difference between 87 and 91? does it really make that big of a difference? i read somewhere that gas stations only have 2 tanks, one for 87 and one for 89.. and 91 is a mix between the two. is that true? thaanks for the info guys.

    Does anyone know if the 70 thru 89 oil drain plugs use the same size plug/thread? I wanted to replace the plug with an EZ drain plug from FRAM....

    A few years ago on the old web page there was a link,I think called Zgarage. It was the one that told a complete run down on the most correct parts to build your Z.Anyone still have acopy of that. I think mine was lost during a pc crash.
