Ok. I know we didn't get 280Z turbos in Australia. What about 280ZX turbos? Did we get any of them? Were they even made? If they were available in Japan, I guess there may be a 3 or 4 somewhere in Perth due to the secondhand imports we got. How different are the engines or are they the same? Could I use a turbo diesel block from a patrol and a petrol head? Did they make turbo diesel patrols? Or should I just put a RB series motor in?

I came across a clean 260 dash would like to know if I can use this in my 77 280 I understand the wire harness and guages are different (those i presume can be swapped) other than that will this work? Also being a factory dash there is no UV protection is there a paste, spray or something that can be applied (outside of regular car care products) to protect it?

There is a weatherstrip that fits between the top rail of the engine fender and inside the top of the outer fender. When I removed the fenders I don't recall this piece although it seems the fenders have not been removed before. MSA has them for $27. The question is: is this a simple U channel strip and what the consistancy of it (is it foamy or solid or maybe that gooey tape stuff). Can it be replaced w/ something generic? Also the small flat portions that the fender sits on I was thinking I would use double sided tape (you know the kind w/ a little foam thickness to it). While I'm at it are the fender emblem holes the same for the one's w/ designation (260z, 280z) as …

I went ahead and put a new thermostat gasket in and found that the hose coming out of my thermostat housing and into my manifold was plug with the brown sluge I cleaned that out and then also saw that the opening coming from my thermostat iinto my manifold was also plugged with that same sluge. Curious to see if the sluge went all the way through the manifold. I opened up the opposite end of the manifold where the coolant comes out. I took my my air hose and blew through the manifold. Nothing no air came through the manifold. Does this mean that the manifold is plugged with this same sluge? Let me know. Frankenstein Z

Here is an interesting find I saw on Ebay. A 1961 MGA with a 240Z motor. Beautiful car with a reliable engine that needs to be completed. Check it out! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2403271323&category=6314

I installed a '78 280z fuel injection system on my '72 240. the fuel flow is strong - but seems to be returning to the tank in high volume due to the sound of it re-entering the tank. The engine starts for a moment then dies. I think it is starting for that moment on the cold start injector- but if the fuel pressure regulator is not holding pressure wouldn't it be a reason it would die? Question is: What should the fuel pressure be in the fuel rail? And where is a good place to install a fuel pressure port to check the pressure? Any thoughts would be appreciated. - Jeff

I have been having trouble with my coolant running out. When I drive the car after I fill up the coolant, as soon as I turn off the car half the coolant will get forced out the over flow hose on the radiator and on to the ground. I took off the radiator cap with the car running and coolant is moving all around so I think my water pump is good. I replace my thermostat also. Still the same problem the coolant just gets force out of the overflow hose and I bet it does it a little also when I am driving it. Let me know what you guys think. Oh by the way its a 72 240z. Thanks Frankenstein Z

I have been doing a LOT of reading on this website as well as a hand full of others and think that I may have figured out what is considered to be the best overall setup for a Z. Please work with here as I am very new to all of this and am only working off my notes from various people's opinions and tested results. I do welcome all helpful information as I would like to determine the truely best way to build up a Z car. For starters you need a '70-71 Z car as these were lighter than the later ones. Now for the rest... ENGINE: an '81-'83 L28 non-turbo motor (this will have flat top pistons) which will be an F54 block and should have originally had a P79 head HEAD: an '…
