Has anyone done any experimentation on Manifold lengths with their triple carbs? I have the 6" Cannon with a set of triple 44 mikunis and 39mm venturis. The problem my car has a huge flatspot up near 4500-5000rpm. Past that it pulls well up to the 7200rpm redline. Prior to this venturi change, I had changed my cam from a 276 .515 lift cam to a 284/294 .515 lift split duration cam, looking for more power past 6500rpm. The cam didn't seem to add much power until I installed the 39mm venturis. After I did that it had enough breathing capacity to pull to the higher revs. I spoke a little to Dave Rebello of Rebello Racing and he says for my setup, the manifold in combination o…

Hey all...i was jut wondering if its possible to get 250 or more hp from a 2400. i want it to be a daily driver and not cost too much. i was considering a 5.0 ltr efi swap but i still think having a strong 6 would be just as good. i am currently working on my 73 240z and trying to get some ideas before i start really finishing it up. if anyone out there has achieved this id really like to know and what kind of eng work did you have to do? thanks for any advice. kris the engine is stock and original except for the downdraft webers.

Hi all, Who makes the best electric fuel pump for the early Z's? I noticed that Motorsport Auto has them either new, rebuilt, or performance types. Are the MSA rebuilt pumps any good? I ended up removing this pump over the weekend. When I connected 12v to the thing... it did nothing. So, I pulled it apart and twisted the gear manually. I think it was stuck. After I moved it, I added 12v and the thing took off. It went back together just fine and I tried to pump fuel through it while out of the car. No go. Fuel didn't suck out of the bucket like I was expecting. So, I figured that maybe it needed to be 'primed'. I put it back on the gas tank and held the other e…

Hi. I'm from Montreal, CND, and on my way to buy a nice 240Z 72. The car has 93 000 miles and need a valve seal job this spring (car is actually stored). I'd like to know what is the interval to change or do maintenance on the timing chain since i did not find any info in the Haynes manual... Thanks for your help!

im looking for some more power in my 72 240z. the V8 came to mind...but i really love the way the original engine runs, it just sounds sweet. two thoughts came to mind, either buying oversized pistons or turbocharging it. i know the turbo would give my way more power but at what cost? would this fry the engine soon? and what kind of modifications would be necessary, besides the turbo kit itself?

I am thinking of fitting a Nitrous Kit to my car for more performance, what do you think? The car is quick already as I have fitted a L28 skimmed and polished the head and fitted a stage 2 cam and triple Webers and a big exhaust. But I want more BHP. Any comments?

Hey all, Been away from the fray for a while, a little to much fun flying. I have finished a fairly through update of the Datsun Workshop. And Bryan Little recently changed the Datsun Garage link which I updated. If you know anyone who has either link on their page, let them know of the changes to both. I have e-mailed most of the pages I could find. My 240 is currently in storage. Running, but not being driven. Still working on swaping a T5 and a R200 in. They are in, but not connected. Something about two sets of second gear syncros. They just can't handle the torque of the stroker... But it will be next christmas before that happens. In the mean time, I have a '00 BMW…

as I think about alternative carburetion, I wonder what is the cfm ratings of the stock carbs on a 1970 240Z? Holley makes the 390 which is expensive, but being a Ford person, I am quite familiar with Ford carbs that are similar to Holleys. The Autolite carbs have small cfm rating and bolt up the same as a Holley. There are 441 and 480 cfm versions. There are even 2V versions that are 356 cfm etc. These would be dependable inexpensive carbs that could be bolted to a Holley type manifold. So what doe sa stock system flow??
