I've not ever removed a stock oil pan from a 240Z. My question is did Datsun paint the inside of the oil pan or is it just bare metal?

The transmission in my 1973 240z just started making a fairly loud noise when decelerating in gear. The noise sounds like a slight grinding and vibration can be felt in the shifter. It is worst in third gear but there is some noise also in second gear. If I push the shifter forward slightly while in third gear or pull back slightly in second gear (just taking the play out of the shifter) it's goes away. The transmission shifts just fine and there doesn't seem to be any noise in first or fourth gears. Some background information; the car is nearly stock and has 400 miles on it since an engine rebuild with new clutch, throw-out bearing, etc. The transmission is the ori…

I've been looking for a good gasket to use with MSA header (round exhaust port). Not so sure about the MSA gasket that was included. After searching I came across this https://www.ebay.com/p/Engine-Block-Cover-Gasket-ITM-09-50527-fits-76-78-Nissan-280Z-2-8L-L6/74968871?iid=302786175086 and was wondering if anyone has used one. I like the metal around the exhaust port. I know a lot of people recommend Datsun OEM but it does not have the round exhaust port. Appreciate the input.

Is there a proper source to get the correct spark plug wires for an L28 engine? The last set I got from the LAP were more of the universal type, and they were all the same length with all straight ends. I believe that the ends for #5 & 6 have a bend and a right-angle, resp. I also believe black is the proper colour? thxZ

Hey guys, since I broke the intake manifold thermostat I bypassed the intake with a regular hose (red line). Would it be better to completely cap off the coolant flow by a plug at the thermostat housing and the 3-way connector at the engine passenger side? Thank you!

A few months back I had to replace my harmonic balancer on my 77 280z with an aftermarket one. I damaged my stock one reinstalling it after replacing a leaky front main. It's in my "Tackling 2 leaks, rad and front main" thread. Since then I have acquired a stock one from a 75. I would like your opinion on the condition of it from the pics I loaded. Do you think I should have it rebuilt due to the crack in the rubber? Also just noticed a groove in the snout. I measure 1.88 inches above and below the grove and 1.86 inside the groove. I'm thinking the groove isn't going to cause a problem but want your opinion. And not sure I should use it with the crack in the rubber. If yo…

Hi all - I bought a motor a few years ago from John Williams Racing. I am finally getting ready to install it, and was trying to ID the camshaft. It is an E30 cam, but appears to be a regrind. On the back of the cam, closest to the firewall, there is a hand done engraving, reading "Sidewinder B31-180". I have no idea what it means. All help is appreciated - I need to figure out if this cam will work with my carbs. Thanks!
