I am wondering if anyone has successfully relocated the Charcoal Canister from the engine bay to a less obvious location. Either that or an effective delete process without negative side effects... The photo above shows the Canister beside the fuel filter. I would like to move the fuel line and filter to the firewall along with the fuel pressure regulator. I don't want the negative effects of a delete that gives off a fuel smell either. Or fuel lines running all around the engine bay. Hmmmm. Thoughts?

I was interested in where you can get cool, high pressure air for the intake system, so I thought if I could stick an air-pressure sensor in different places under the hood or even on the outside of the body, I could find a place to get the high-pressure air. Temperature sensors are easy to find, like a thermister. A sensor with an analog output of some kind would be easily monitored: I have a neat LED bar-graph board I made long ago, so I could hook up a sensor to that and watch the lights to see what you can get and where.Thermisters and thermocouples have their own easily-built converters or displays But then, it seems that air pressure sensors are either expe…

Hi, Can someone show me a photo of an original 72 camshaft and cam gear. I would like to identify if my cam gear and camshaft is original. I have a feeling they aren't. My cam gear has no notch and the cam lobes have rough edging as if they were just cut or made. Thanks!

Can anyone tell me how the crankcase vent tube mounts to the block. Mine fell out when we were taking the block out of the cleaning tank. Is it soldered in place or just a press fit.

ok. I changed the manifold gasket on the 280z and buttoned everything up. But now I'm getting a hissing sound coming from what appears to be an area near injector #5. I double checked all the bolt connections, gasket and surrounding areas prior to installation. I started the car up and right away I hear hissing (vacuum leak sound) from injector 5 area. WTH can this be? Anyone else experience this? can the injectors get loose from the intake manifold removal process? Sent from my LG-D850 using Classic Zcar Club mobile

If I drop the transmission while the car is on jack stands, will I be able to get to the shift pin to pull it or should I go ahead and take out the console and remove from the top? It almost looks like I can get to it with the trans still in. I was thinking there would be enough play in the boot to pull the trans back a bit, then while on the jack drop it down a bit giving access to the shift lever retaining pin. Just wondering how other have done this when pulling the trans while leaving the engine installed.

Rather than clutter up prior threads on rebuilding the Nikki fuel pump, let me raise this question: can a Kyosan Denki rebuild kit be used for a Nikki fuel pump? We have two great articles on the rebuild process, one from Arne in 2009: http://www.classiczcars.com/articles/fuel-system/rebuild-a-240z-mechanical-fuel-pump-r70/ and one from motivealloy in 2014 that is currently active: http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/50679-rebuilding-the-nikki-fuel-pump/ At least one of these articles stated the Denki diaphragm is "different" and will not work. The Nissan P/N for the diaphragm is discontinued and NLA and in motivealloy's thread I recently asked where to locate th…

I have been putting this off, but may as well start while its cool outside. 1st order of business is to get a system in place to safely support the car. I have some metal ramps, so I rolled up on the front then jacked the rear and put those in place (to low to roll up) next I cut up some 6x6 into 2 ft lengths, those will go UNDER the ramps just in case the metal ramps fail. I also have some large jack stands that will go on the flat part of the TC bushing mounts and a floor jack at the crossmember. the idea is to have some of the weight carried by the wheels and suspension, and some carried by the floor jacks. Several contact points all spread ab…

I followed the rebuild guide from How To Modify Your Nissan/Datsun Engine book, which told me to not bother putting the oil slinger back in when rebuilding. I wasn't actually rebuilding (just replacing the crank damper after my last one delaminated), and then a couple nights ago, I threw my fan belt. Are these instances related? Is the elimination of that one shim just enough to screw up pulley alignment?

I searched quite extensively, but have not found an online image or guided instructions for where the manifold spacers go. when I removed the manifold, I wasn't able to see where the spacers were coming off of, so I couldnt record where to put them back.
