Hi all, When I recently bought my '78, I kept mentally comparing it to my old '75 that I sold in the early 90's. It seemed to have less space in the hatch, even when taking out the subwoofer in the back. To my embarrassment, I now know why: It has a raised false floor. Weird. Why would they do that? The material is rather heavy, the floor isn't as sturdy, and most of all, there's not as much room in the hatch. So has anyone converted one of these platform floors to a regular floor? Are there any surprises involved? I suppose one issue is the spare tire. The one I have is the original style, stored deflated. It's quite wide and stands up to the height of the spare…

11/73' 1974 260z paint color 303, beige/lt.brown int. as you can see the drivers seat is in terrible need of new padding and new vinyl I've been searching online for a few days for replacements, so far i've found www.classicdatsun.com 's butterscotch replacement vinyl and their padding. the thing is that i can't seem to find any of the two tone combination for the vinyl. more so, a two tone that matches my seats/my interior! also i need new carpet, it only came with two peices hiding behind the seats, its a very dark carmel brown, perhaps its the butterscotch too? WHAT DO I DO OH GURU'S OF THE Z's! trying to keep as stock as possible <a href="http://s110.photobucket.…

Taking a break from installing the air-con unit I decided to put in a different armrest and cut the center console back to where the shifter is. The armrest it self has four cupholders, 2 front 2 back, coins compartment and it can slides I got an armrest from a 6gen celica, st202 BEAMS to be specific. With a grinder and electric drill and 2mm plate I got myself a bracket. Dont worry if the bracket isn't measurements perfect, you wont see it anyway. Good thing is that you can slide the top and lock it in any position you wish. I slide it all the way back to cover the plate and there it stays. Flash on and my cam start acting weird. Need to cover the…

Since I couldnt really find any complete threads on how to install factory air-con into 260&280z I thought I would make a progress thread so people who, like me can find the infos that they need in completing the conversion. This conversion will take months, since Im not always at home so bear with me. You will need: Phillips screw driver Plier Set of hex Beers First thing is to take off your dash, I thought I can do it without taking it off, which I kinda did but I couldnt install the air-con assembly this way coz it is way bigger than normal heater assembly. So save yourself the hassle and take off the dash first. Negative cable off. Empty the coolant (y…

I am looking to replace the complete interior of my Orange/white 240z. Black Dragon appears to have all of the pieces in kit form. Has anyone bought one of these kits and care to comment? Any other suggestions or sources to consider? Thanks, Leonard

I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation on some speakers that would work with a stock, original radio. When I bought my car from the PO, he had two plastic speaker boxes in the back, each of them with a blown and horrible-sounding speaker inside. I tossed the speakers and left the wiring in place. Now I'm at the point in my restoration where I was thinking that it might be nice to be able to listen to the radio (or perhaps even to music from my iPod, since I have a Griffin iTrip that will broadcast to FM). Does anyone have a recommendation on some speakers that would work well with a stock radio? It's my understanding that the original FM radio puts out about 3W of…

I'm installing the full dash cover from MSA on my 78 280z. Everything lines up perfect but it looks like the knobs for trip reset and interior dimmer need to be removed to get it on right. Is there anyway to get the knobs off without removing the dash? I've removed the small plastic panel under the column that is still on in the pics and can't seem to get my hand near where it has to be.

Did all the 280Zs have the floor temp light thing above the vents? My car is supposed to have "Federal" emmissions, and there's no floor temp sensor, so the indicator light is useless unless there's another use for the light, like a fog-light indicator? If the floor temp indicator was removed, the panel would look unbalanced. thxZ

I have been working with a company who does carbon fiber, he is going to be using my console as a mold to make them out of carbon fiber. Here is a link so you can read whats been going on at the other forum http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=150782&page=2 THese consoles will fit the 260 and 280 2+2 and coupe. There will also be a console for a double din stereo. THe cost is $190.00 per console. Let me know if you want one, I need 7 more people in the group, if I can get more than 10 maybe I can get a cheaper price
