I have a 73 240 and I want to replace the lighter. I was expecting to feel a nut on the back side but I can't feel a thing back there other than the lighter itself. Is it possible that it is fixed in there some other way? I've tried several times and keep deciding I'll come back to it later. But I end up there every time. Thanks

The man I bought my 240z from installed new factory door panels. I'm planning on replacing the outer door handles and the window rollers. I know from experience that the door panels on the early z's are hard to get off without breaking the clips. What's the best way to remove the door panels without breaking any of the clips? I'd hate to break the clips on brand new door panels.

Just got my 240Z. Love the drive but the stock seats don't have enough any lateral support for hard cornering for me. Anyone out there driving the street in period racing buckets that you also use for track days? Thanks.

If I pick up a single sided (Key) ignition for a series 1 can it be rekeyed by a locksmith to match the original keycode? TIA, John

I did searches for "removing radio" "removing stereo" and "removing heater (control panel)" and have not turned up anything useful..... I am looking to remove my circa '82 pioneer tape deck for an original Datsun Hitachi AM/FM radio I just got my hands on... I've removed the center console, I've removed the buttons & knobs for the Heater Control, I've removed the face/trim of the Pioneer deck, I've removed the 4 screws that hold the HVAC panel in & have removed the map light... Yet the HAVC panel appears to still be connected to the Heater control unit.... How do I remove them such that I can get better access for removing the junky Pioneer deck?? Would it be help…

I don't know the seller, but here are two more uncracked dashes from 72 240Zs (with all gauges and wiring) in the Seattle area. The seller wants $400 each. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/pts/1013592531.html -Mike

Hey Fellas, I think this might be a very good replacement shift boot grommet that several folks need. See what you think. Hope these pics work. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/440man/100_0620.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/440man/100_0619.jpg http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g4/440man/100_0618.jpg Bryan

I found this on the Seattle craigslist for $350 if anyone is interested. I don't need it, but thought someone else may. I haven't seen it in person. http://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pts/920908948.html -Mike

Hey All, I have searched all over the forums and no such luck. Not sure if this has been asked before but could someone tell me what the original colour of the surround ring for the ignition cylinder, the one that slides over it to create the curved lip. I looked at Kats' pictures to try and tell but hard to be sure if was black or aluminium? Mine had a poor finish which looks like black over spray and I want to refresh it with the correct colour or finish if it was just metal. In case it is different dependent on years I have a 1971 Series 1 240Z.

I just finished putting the reupholstered driver's seat out of my 240z back together. The seat has all new cushions and all new vinyl upholstery from motorsport. After putting the seat back together, I noticed that there is a large gap between the back of the seat and the bottom of the seat. Before the seat was rebuilt, there was almost no gap between the two parts of the seat. Has anyone else noticed this after they rebuilt their 240z seats?

I stripped out my interior this weekend, prepping the car for some floor board and quarter panel patches and then a new paint job. I didn't take the dash out, but I took it mostly apart. The main reason I took apart the dash was to figure out why the AC didn't blow much air. The PO had put in the Honda blower, yet didn't get any more flow. Attached are pics of what I found. Basically, its a 4x4 inch piece of foam that is smooth on one side, and only a quarter inch thick. The smooth side did not have any glue on it, so it wasn't previously attached to something. It was stuck in the center of the main duct, right where it splits to come out the center and the two…

Hi Guy's... I'm sure this it's pretty simple.. BUT can someone tell me how to remove the dome light in a 71 'Z'? I went through my manuals, but nada on how to remove it, I need to take mine out and see if the push switch is broke. the push to manually turn on, Push to turn off doesn't work any more.. I use to feel it click on, and off... not anymore. MSA wants 60 bucks for a new one, so I thought I'd see if I can fix this one before I buy a new one. Thanks
