I'm working on increasing my knowledge of cleaning a car this week! Oh boy! I'm collecting info on what to go after when you clean the interior of the car. I'd like to assemble a checklist of the things that people do. I know "everything" should just about cover it, but there's more to cleaning "everything." Everything has little bits to it and there are probably things or techniques that you or I (or whomever) never thought of doing. If you know of a GOOD & comprehensive website, post the URL & a short description. My Z-car database is up to 2 Megs! (not including pictures.) Eventually, I post itt to my website. thx.

I went by my local Z-junk yard today to look at some replacement seats. i found some in good condition just a little dirty. They are black vinyl and look exactly like the type found in the 71 Z (horizontal stiching with 4 metal vents), except these do not have the 4 metal vents. The seats are not firm like my butterscotch vinyl seats, the vinyl feels softer, and a little bit less brittle. How can i tell if they are original upholstery? i do not know the year of the car. Is there original upholstered vinyl seats with no vents at the bottom?

Anybody ever use them with success? I was at a place that does vinyl & leather repair, and I got an estimate for $100 to repair some small cuts & gashes along the top of the door panel. thx

Just called A/C specialist to get system checked/purged/charged - told tech I would supply refrigerant (R-12), to which I recieved a Chilling (weak) reply - "no way man, no can do - we aren't allowed to use that stuff anymore - where did you get that anyway?" I quickly changed the subject and asked about what they were using as a substitute, to which he replied "414 man, where have you been?" I guess I was still in 1977 - anyway the R-12 is in the garage and the 414 is going to cost about $100. The little info I have found says it's fully compatable and 8% more effective than R-12. Who would have thunk it:surprised ? Anyone using this stuff?? please post opinion or impr…

Has anyone out there restored a butterscotch interior 240z? Do they make new plastic panels in this color or will I need to purchase the black ones and have them painted? Thanks.

I own #248 and noticed the other day that the rear glass has no defroster grid and that the consol has no provision for a rear defroster at all. Anyone else have that? My #1793 has the vertical elements. Interesting..... Bryan Dat240zg

I took my '72 240Z to work today where she sat out in the parking lot for several hours in the sun. When leaving I noticed that an existing crack in the dash began to lengthen itself and progress towards the front. Needless to say, this doesn't please me. When I was in the service we used to "stop drill" cracks in aircraft aluminum skin as well as plexiglass plastic windows & windshields. Drilling a hole at the very end of the crack would most often halt the cracking process and prevent further damage. Has anyone tried this method of stopping a crack on a 240Z dash? I'm very tempted to give it a try, but am wondering if anyone has tried this before and what resu…

Does anyone know where I might be able to find a map light? OK, who's laughing out there I can hear you (), even in ABQ. Seriously, what years will work with my car?

I have been under the assumption that the shock towers on the Z came with the diamond upholstery pattern on them. Yet, in the '72 car pictured in the photo (purported to be highly original) there is no such pattern. Is this OEM or aftermarket? Thanks, Gary S.
