Seat spacers 1 2

I am installing a set of original seats in a 1972 240Z (purchased used and slighly moldy smelling) and noticed a scattered set of what appeared to be spacers. These are black plastic, one round, the other hex shaped. The hex shaped spacer is threaded. My question is - where are these suppoed to reside when mounting the seat? If above the bracket attached to the unibody, it will allow the seat height to be higher (if using) or lower (if removing). I assume this is where they are supposed to be. Not sure the explanation makes sense -- anyone have ideas? A picture maybe?

Much more comfortable than hard plastic racing seat that came with the car, but they will still hold me in place on the track.

I am gutting the interior of my early '71 and find the transmission tunnel has a very small hole for the stick and no provision for a hold down ring for the inner shift boot. I have no idea whether or not the boot that was in there is even out of a Z, I suspect not. My question is: What does an early boot look like and how is it held down? Glue down or does it rim in the hole itself like a fire wall grommet? Any help appreciated. Best Regards, H Houghton

I just bought a 73 240Z and have doubts as to if it has the original (or correct) speedometer in it. What years came with the speedo that starts at 10MPH? Thanks

Hi, this is Jim from Osoyoos in British Columbia,Canada. I was wondering if any one knows where I can get information about the rear molded panels in my car. They have cracked a bit. Can I just cover them with fabric for now to customize my interior? I'm redoing my interior and I would also like some information on rug kits and floor mats. Thank you for the input about my decision to put in a sun-roof. I think that I will hold off on that choice. You all have convinced me.thanks for now,Jim.

My 280Z (11/78) center console has a rectangular hole at the back. Is there supposed to be an ashtray there too? There already is one just ahead of the armrest, between it and the shifter? I don't mind having another ashtray; it's a good place to stash coins. But would it be correct? thx

Does anybody have any knowledge of this armrest? I can't say for sure it came with my car (#1321) or was something the previous owner added. It's actually kind of nice, but if it isn't original, I'll start looking for a replacement. Thanks, Bob P.S. My first time trying to attach a picture, so if it doesn't work, my apologies! armrest.bmp

Any ideas or suggestions on where to go to get a new early 70 Z console or getting an old one refinished? Seems to be an extremely tough part to find .. Thanks!

Hey all, I have been trying to remove the vinyl seat covers for the past few days, and cannot for the life of me get the four large Phillips screws loose which hold the seat back/reclining mechanism to the seat base. There's no rust or corrosion, but those guys just won't budge! Humble's book says to use an impact driver, and shows a photo of a guy hitting the screwdriver with a hammer while trying to unscrew them, which I've tried without success. I don't have access to air tools, so that's out. Any other ideas? I'd really like to avoid the upholstery shop, but only for pride and pocketbook reasons. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve
