My '75 280Z has a half dash cap that was installed before I purchased the car. It's a nice installation and the lower dash looks o.k. with no cracks showing and just slightly faded (cap a bit darker). But I'm looking at the full caps offered by MSA and thinking if that were properly installed it would be almost as good as a new dash. What problems would I encounter removing the half cap and then applying the full? I imagine that the adhesive used is pretty strong stuff and there could be some tearing of the original dash trying to pull the cap off. Is this a good idea or will it create more problems than it's worth?

Okay, another small question. This is the mod my PO made: Best I can tell, he cut some material from the end (dash side) of the Fuse cover panel. It also appears that he trimmed part of the center console in order to get the EQ (kids, remember them?) unit to fit. I'd like to dump the EQ unit (sounds like junk and is a wiring mess), but what I dont know is this: (1973) Did the original cover go all the way up to the dash (ie, under the radio bottom lip)? How was this cover secured? Hinged? Clipped? If it was secured or did not go all the way to the dash I'll forget trying to locate a replacement panel and concentrate on making up a panel insert, maybe strick a switch …

I put up a thread recently about using 280 seat mount rails in a 240. SO i was told i can, but i was wondering if i have to reposition the main seat bracket. im trying to avoid re-welding that piece because i can replace the floor panels without moving that piece. If i do have to reposition that piece, does anyone know where i can get new seat mount rails for a '71 240Z? thanks

Has anyone managed to install central locking into a 1970-78 Zed? I had a good go over the weekend and just couldnt get the angel right, I positioned the Central Locking Actuator above the lock and mounted it off the door handle nuts, But the actuator was to far down and the angel is all wrong for the lock to open and close properly, if i locate it any highy it gets pushed out by the cotours of the door, Any suggestions...........anybody got pics of how they mounted their central locking??? pics of the brackets they used???

I am in the process of buying almost everything for my interior. All of the plastic panels, all vinyl, and the seats. My interior color is originally red and I intend to keep it that way. My choices for vendors are Motorsport, Classicdatsun.com, and Western-z.com. Can anyone recommend a source or help me choose one of these vendors based on experience? My concerns are color matching, "original look", and price. Thanks Saro Fagerian

Well I was at my local Auto Zone and a black leather shift boot with red stitching caught my eye. I already have the center console and all out to install my aftermarket stereo, so I figure what the heck. So I take the stock shift boot off without bothering to see how it was connected. Now I have 4 little metal clips and no idea how to fit the new shift boot back on. Can anyone help me? Dave
