Hey guys, my Z has fallen to a bad case of rust in the floor pans, and that ended up getting on my carpet, as well as dry rot. I see that MSA charges an assload of money for a new kit, so do you guys have any alternate ideas? i hear people have taken their carpet to home depot or whatever and they can get somthing very close to the original for alot less than MSA. Also, any alternatives to weather stripping? thanks alot. -Mike

Does it follow that if I have the later electrical distributor out of a 79-81 then I need to get a matching tach out of that car and only that car ... and then possibly swap faces to make it look like it belongs? I ask because I have a random spare 260Z tach lying around - can't use that can I? -e

I was looking at the fusebox on my 280Z and it looks kind of messy down there, so I was wondering if there is supposed to be a panel of sorts to cover the area? Can Somebody post a pic of a neat/original fusebox area, so I know what it should look like? thx

Ok, I used the search function and didn't quite find what I was looking for, and I also looked on Zhome.com which answered most of my questions. But... What exactly is the difference between the '72 Dash, and the '73 dash? just the lighter and hazard switch? On zhome, it said in the time line, that the '73 had a modified dash, so I looked around more and found info about dash differences, and it compared the 70-71 and the 72, but wasn't sure if there was a big difference between the 72 and 73 other than the hazzard toggle being changed to a push/pull type. (also someone mentioned something about the lights on the lighters?) Thanks for your time.

hey all... i'm a newbie to Zs and i have a couple questions. i just purchased a '72 240 and i was wondering how i can remove my temp/oil gauge and plug it back in. also, there are a couple knobs under the dash that i have no idea what they're for. they are on either side of the car (driver/passenger) and i've been scratching my head over them. i figured they were for air vents but i'm not sure....

Anyone know the size of the threads on the Z shift knob or shifter? An approximate size in inches or mm would be great. I'd like to find a replacement knob for my 210 but all of my Z knobs and shifters are out of reach in storage. I'm looking for a replacement on Ebay and I'm hoping a Z knob will fit. Thanks for the help! michael

I have researched some of the older posts and now know how to fix my drivers door lock BUT when I go to close the door it doesn't "catch". The door handle has never worked properly to open the door and feels almost frozen...no give when you pull on the handle so when you do pull... the door just pops open. I know that when you go to open the door from the inside it does something to that round piece on the inside of the door that is supposed to catch and keep the door closed. I used to be able to position that round piece so that if I didn't want the door to catch it wouldn't...now I can't undo that affect to have the door catch. If this makes sense to ANYONE and you …

Anyone have a DVD video setup in their 240Z or even a 280ZX?I might do this 4 my 280Z 1 2

I know that most of you guys probably don't have a video system in your Z especially a 240Z or 280Z and even a 280ZX.. but I figured hell, maybe I would be one of the first... I am currently working on a video setup for my 280Z and instead of spending $1,500 on a motorized flip up in dash DVD setup.. I am building my own setup using a widescreen 7" LCD screen and a mini DVD player underneath my seat. In order for the DVD player to send the Audio OUT signal to my CD player, the only way is if I had a AUDIO IN jack or input. This meant that I had to get a NEW CD player or headunit untill I came across something.... an FM Modulator.. pretty much what you do is plus in th…

I've seen the dash caps you can buy to cover up your cracked dashes..... Is there a reason why I can't seem to find a brand new dash reproduction? I've seen one for sale for $900, but it sold, it was a Nissan OEM part, I'd rather go out and buy the whole thing though than just a cap.... if they can make a dash cap, why doesn't anyone sell a full dash? Also, has anyone tried recovering a dash with either vinyl or leather? seems to me if you could get the material, it wouldn't be unreasonable to form it to fit the original dash... would take a little sewing and maybe.... may look nicer than a cap.
