Everything works but the preverbial clock..those things were just not built to last but clocks are a problem with most older cars regardless of the make or model... Ok ...does anyone know of guages (non standard Datsun ones) that will fit into the area of the original Datsun ones, for fuel, oil pressure , temp , charging etc. ..as well as a clock that can be used to replace the original one or where I can locate the original clocks. Next...lighting of the speedometer and tach area...any suggestions on how to improve this.... L E D's or will those be just to bright. Lastly ...just how tough is it to replace an entire dash. Mine has a half cap on it and as has been posted …

Here is my first pass at turning a shift knob. I used some Redwood "Lace" burl that I have had for a couple of years. The first picture shows the 3 new ones along side of a old one. There are 2 pics of each. If there is a way to combine them onto fewer pages, that would be great. Let me know what you think.

I am combining a couple of hobbies and am in the process of turning a couple of gear shift knobs out of a piece of redwood burl. I am trying to find a internaly threaded sleeve, M8 x 1.25, to fit the threads on the shifter. Has anyone seen such a thing or have any suggestions? Thanks.

I have acquired two glove box doors. One has the 'Datsun 240Z' emblem on the top of the door and the other on the bottom. What is the correct one for the Series 1 and when did they change ? Seems strange why they did change them to me - why was this done ?

OK all you Z pros. I adapted a quartz clock to fit the dash of my '72'. Fits good, looks orig. and keeps perfect time- - - - - -while the car is running and for a short period after the car is parked and turned off. There was no rewiring to plug it in to the harness. It worked for about 3 days when first installed, while sitting in my garage, then stopped. When to the Z-Fest, it ran and kept time. Went to drive it last night after sitting for a couple of weeks. It had stopped and now it is still running this morning. Is it possessed? Or is it just that the quartz needs more than what the old clock would have needed to continue to run?

Interior questions: I was wondering if you could do your own carpet job and not need to buy the expensive kits from MSA or Victoria British? Also where is the best bang for your buck insulation and adhesive? Also which is better just prime and paint job for the interior or POR 15?

My rectangular tailgate "panel" inside the car is hanging by one final corner screw. Motorsport guys said it needs rivets, but the guy I talked to didnt know what kind of screw was holding it on the four corners. (the rivets apparantly go into little clips on the other holes, with plastic screws in the corner.) What are these screws, they must be in the MSA catalog arent they?? I had to order black rivets as well cause the werent any blue ones left.

Got a chance to get some heater controls from a 76 280Z to put on my 78 2808Z, so I can select the different functions without pulling over to look at where the lever is set to. I'm just not sure if they will interchange? thx

Hi All, I recently fitted one of the FX wheels that MSA sell to my 240Z but the damn thing is wobbly. I've torqued the nut down that holds the boss to the shaft but the splines on the boss just don't seem to sit snugly with the shaft's splines. The wheel does turn the wheels fine as it grips enough on the shaft splines. Bit blooming annoying to say the least! I'm not sure if the shafts splines have been damaged by a previous owner fitting a different aftermarket wheel (Motalita). Has anyone suffered a similar problem? Due to my location I'd prefer to fix rather than send the wheel back. I've been pondering wrapping the shaft with wome aluminium foil just to increase it's …

The 1970 - 1972 240Z had 2 levers on the console, throttle lever and Choke lever. Whereas the 1973 240Z simply had the choke lever. My question relates to the choke lever. Did the 1973 240Z choke lever have a different insignia on the lever compared to the earlier models?
