Man, I'm just full of questions today. I LOVE THIS SITE!! I need to remove pan rust as well as rust on other spots on the interior. 1. What works best for removal (wire brush on drill or elbow grease)? 2. Should I prime and paint after removal (entire interior or spot)? 3. Should I install noise dampening material or OEM type padding before laying carpet?

Those clips that push into the doors and hook onto the door planels should go. Well, most of the slots on my door panels are broken from whoever worked on the car before. So, I had the idea of some kind of threaded insert that would go in the hole so you can use some decorative SCREWS to attach the door panels, and whatever other panels, like the ones behind the seats (speaker panels), and maybe even some of the plastic parts. Maybe something like a 10mm diameter pop-rivet with a threaded shank? thx.

I was wondering if anyone knew of some good interior paints or dyes for interior parts, such as the dash, plastic parts... I also would be interested in knowing about any good prep products and cleaner products too

Door Seals?

Last year I put new floor boards in my 73' 240 and about a month ago I noticed that there was some water getting in and soaking the padding under the front carpets. Not wanting to go through rusty floor boards again I got a set of door seals from VB. I saw on a post that the seals for a 78' works the best as far as having no problem shutting the door and they sealed well. Well I put in the new seals and the door was tight but it shut. A couple days later I noticed the front carpets were wet again after a rain storm. Did I make a mistake using the 78' seals or is there a trick I missed putting them in? I used the adhesive from VB to put them in. Could the water be coming i…

I've read through the Haynes account of dashboard removal and am hoping that there is an easier way to get to the clock. I've gotten a replacement for my non-functioning time piece and would like to change it out. This will be in a '73 240z. Thanks in advance.

I recently bought a horn pad from eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2430565931&category=33704 The pad arrived and is in beautiful shape but doesn't come close to fitting the steering wheel of my '73 240z. Does anyone know what it fits? I'd like to post it on eBay, but would like to be a little more accurate in my description. My original pad looks good but is smaller, has "Datsun" on it (rather than the "Z" on the eBay pad), and has no (remaining) internal parts. I can make the horn work by shorting across the contacts with the pad off, but I'm looking to restore function without the help of a screwdriver. What should I be look…

I was changing the interior door light switches today in my '73 and I ran into a problem. The drivers side went well, but when I started the passenger side I found that while the switch that was in the body had one wire coming from it, the switch that I got from MSA had two wires on it. I didn't see any loose wire hanging inside that might have pulled off. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if a) I got the wrong switch from MSA, or b)its the right switch and I just have to hook it up differently, or c) keep looking for a loose wire that pulled off the original switch. The car was made in 6/73. Thanks for any help on this! Mark

The drivers door had always been hard to close and open (never clicked in my head that it opened easily from inside though). Last night when I tried to open the door the linkage fell right off. So opened up the door today and put the linkage back on (and slightly modified), only to discover that now the door wont lock! After some playing around I found that you can lock it if you loosen off the three screws that hold the latching mechanism. If you do them up then something is binding in there and it wont lock. I tested this with the door open (by clicking the latch "thingy" two clicks as if the door was closed), but when I tried by actually closing the door, it still wont…

Hello, I got restored early seats for my 240Z. This driver's seat bottom cushion got new pad and new webbing while passenger's pad and webbing is intentionaly remained as it is because I think it is still very beautiful. I want to know this side plastic cover for the bottom is common for early seat?I know we can see it in parts catalog and owner's manual which mentioned for the seats, but I do not see many nowadays. kats
