Found battery totally dead. Maybe the interior dome light was bumped on while getting stuff from hatch area. Need to check it first before testing anything else. Doubt if I can remove the plastic lens without accidentally turning it off or on. Thinking check continuity at fuse box if it has it's own fuse. Also want to find an LED bulb for it that won't use as much power next time it's left on. Until then I plan to remove that bulb whether or not it was the problem this time, since it's killed the battery before.

I'm thinking about changing the interior vinyl and panel colour from Off White to Black, the door panels will pose the biggest headache but I was wondering about the "basket weave" on the 77 seats, is it fabric or cross hatched vinyl? Could I use all vinyl seat covers from an earlier year or are the 77 seats so different they need a specific covers? The car came with a fabric insert in the seat covers but I'm not sure if it is stock or aftermarket, Thanks

There have been several posts on how to - and how not to - install the headliner in 240s etc (tricky job). In comments there seemed to be some confusion over which adhesive was most effective. 3M Super 77 was suggested by some, and denigrated by others. I called the 3M factory, and they replied by e-mail, and flat-out said that Super 77 is "not strong enough," and further that it will deteriorate anything with foam. They recommend 3M part number 08088 "Spray Trim Adhesive." This is considered an industrial rather than an automotive product, so your local auto supply shop will likely not have it - you have to go to an industrial supplier. Looking forward to get…

I have a '72 240Z and am having a hell of a time finding replacement covers and panels. I want factory original looking as well as color match. Anyone have any suggestions? Google searches come up with nothing. I believe Nissan calls it "brown" but it's that orange tan color. Any help is appreciated. My car is paint code 113 Green and I really want to keep it original looking. Thanks!

Behind the passenger side rear plastic panel there is a steel panel of almost the exact same shape covering the gas tank vapour recovery tank, does it really serve a purpose?

Just finishing up my leather seats from Interior Innovations. I acquired some 1977 280Z seats so I could have the full forward tilt control, the springs in the 77 seat bottoms is also a nice upgrade from the straps in the 71 seat bottoms. I think it raises you in the car by an inch or so with the new foam and 77 seats. A comment on the seat cover bottoms. They come with a cotton cord as a draw string. I was concerned that the cotton would stretch and would probably break under the constant pulling over time. My friend helped me pull wire through the channel where the cord was. This is much more like the way Datsun did the seat covers and I believe will hold up better over…

Does anyone know the specs to the 4 black screws that hold the heater panel in place. I believe they are M4 maybe? I tried the dealer but not to my surprise it was discontinued. Thanks!

I saw this come up on social media and thought it would be appropriate to document here. The question was asked "Okay; I try to search through posts and comments to find my answers; but I've tried to find this.... can anyone tell me what the four threaded holes are designed for on the inner quarter, right behind the door opening?" Answer from @HS30-H, "Nothing to do with harness bars or harness attachments. They are the side mount hard points for the factory 'Safety Bar'/roll-over bar kit." Photo of the holes: And a pic showing the mount in use as intended:

For a 1978 280z Like title says.. are these OEM? I had one snap off and need to replace. I can't seem to find these anywhere. The ones that MSA or others sell are black and have a Z logo on them.

Worked on rebuilding the 78 280z seats for local club member Scott M. on and off this winter. Finalized them today. Phew.... glad they are done. The leather covers are from Interior Innovations, new foams were from Classic Datsun. Ran into an issue with the closure of the seat backs... The material was about 1 1/2" too short to make it close properly over the tangs in the bottom of the seat backs. Either the manufacturer screwed up the length, or the 78 seat back frames grew and got longer. Tried every trick in the book to overcome the issue, finally had an upholstery shop sew in a extension to the leather at the seam where the reinforcement is. Wor…

A quick search didn’t find any previous mention of Ridies but they look like a possible resource for interior pieces: https://ridies.com/Product/26040/1970-1978-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Genuine-Leather-Seat-Covers
