While looking through one my of favorite parts suppliers web site for "stuff", I spotted these beauties. ( Clipsandfasteners.com) They seem to be near perfect replacements for the 240z door panel card clips and receiver cups, but since there are no dimensions, I had to order some and find out. Good news! Here is a comparison between a couple of each, old and new. But dear god the PRICE!!! Don't get me started about shipping costs and GST, and exchange rate etc. I searched a bit to see of anyone had found these before. There was a post from @Mike W about his having found these, but he didn't divulge the part numbers. Now you got …

I have been looking for a original Datsun wood steering wheel to replace the black one in my 280z. I have found some on eBay but I feel like they are charging quite a lot for them. What year cars had these steering wheels and where could I find one?

I know this is stupid but after I replaced my carpets, my interior of my '71 was very clean except for those luggage straps. The sun faded them and/or the years stained them a dull grey brown. Cleaning them didn't help. I wanted to get some fabric dye but I heard the thickness can change the texture of the fabric. I know the straps are nylon but I am painfully picky. I wasn't willing to take any chance. I got gutsy and bought a bottle of liquid "Kiwi scuff cover" shoe polish at wal mart. The stuff is watery thin so you cant over apply or under apply. The straps look new again but not artificially black. Also, the previous body shop didn't realize those z emblems …

Hey mates I've begun to have an issue I'm hoping someone can help me with. My drivers side door locks itself when the door closes, great when I'm being lazy but not so much when the keys are still in it. I took the door panel off this but don't really see anything wrong. Anyone have this kind of issue and how did you solve it? Cheers

Has anybody tried these? Are they any different from the generic moulded-vinyl stick-on strips available at parts stores? Since the original accent strip is heat-embossed to the door card vinyl and thus not removable, I'm having difficulty visualizing how that kind of stick-on strip (has a flat mounting surface) can be installed on top of the original strip without it sitting way too high. I'm hoping that these might, instead, have a 'U' cross-section so that they fit as a cap over the original strip.

For those who have replaced carpet and bought new snaps for the parking brake boot, what did you use and where'd you get them? Yes, I've seen them everywhere from ebay to walmart, but would love to skip the trial & error phase. I imagine they would have to be a little taller than regular fabric snaps, no?

I pulled my heater control panel to fix this problem. As I was reinstalling it I was making sure the cables and controls operated as expected. I went to test this and BAM! It bent again with little effort. This is the cable that goes on the lower right side of panel to the vent door above the blow motor. The door opens and closes freely and it has its spring mounted but the pushing action on the cable keeps bending it. Before I buy any new parts can someone post up the routing of the control cable? Maybe I am putting too many curves in it causing a build up of pressure. Thank you!

I've read some threads about restoring a 240z steering wheel, but I'm not sure what method I should use to restore mine. Someone mentioned using an SOS soap pad, which sounds like a good idea. What do you guys think is the best way to restore the wood on a 240z steering wheel to its original look?

That thing is hard to get out. There was already a crack below the strut mount from whomever tried to remove it years ago. The driver side was tough enough..had to remove the strut nut and muscle it out. The other side is a bit more complex. The rear light panel is out, all of the press-board decking is out, the right-side deck mount piece is out, too. It feels like its going to snap if I put any more bending pressure on it. Any tricks to getting this out? Is there a bolt underneath the weatherstripping to remove the strut mounting plate?

well that was easy. My headliner was detached for about 1/3 of the way on the driver side, sagging down and rubbing my head (I am tall so any sag at all is an issue). Got some headliner 3M glue, used a spatula to separate the driver and passenger side and then about 1/2 back (the rest was stuck on very well, I did not want to tear up the foam) where it was not holding real well. Covered the interior with bed sheets (seats/dash, anywhere it looked like overspray could be and issue) reclined the seats, put the brake handle down all to get as much unfettered access as possible, sprayed on a good even coat on both the roof and headliner, let it tack up (did not take long the …

Does anybody have padding like this in their car ? They came out of my 12/71. Are they stock ? They're in good condition. They have brown rust spots on them. I'm going to put them in the classifieds, but not sure if they're stock or not. Thank you

I installed the bottom cover over new foam. I noticed there was a flap in the middle of the bottom and a corresponding slot (not cut all the way thru) on the foam bottom. I decided not to try and attach it thru the slot since the old OE cover did not use this attachment point (no middle flap). The seats look great, just wondering if others use or did not use the flap. It seemed like even if I was going to use it, the fit would be real tight, perhaps that is the way it suppose to be?
