As near as I can understand it, the conventional wisdom is that there are only two versions of the choke knob for the 240Z: an early, rounded version and a later, more square-ish version (the knob in the 260Z had a more slender design than either of the 240's, and I guess the fuel-injected 280Z didn't have a choke knob at all). In all of the many pictures that I've seen of the 240 choke knob, never does the design include the script, 'CHOKE' in addition to the icon. My small assortment of choke knobs (see photo) includes these three items: right - a new, later-style knob left - two used-condition knobs of an unknown origin, both of which include …

23 cents at Ace hardware. Called a K-clip I think. Keeps the shoulder belt attached to the lap belt. Had to file it down a little on both sides to make it fit.

Finally getting around to re-doing all the plastic panels that make up the hatch area. They came out of the car black(ish) and quite dirty, so I gave them a good scrubbing and found out that they'd been painted -- poorly -- to cover up some pretty decent fading. There's more cleaning yet to do, but this is what I've got to work with: I have three options in mind for how to go about restoring/refreshing this stuff... 1. Mix of boiled linseed oil and paint thinner. This trick comes up often as a way to fix faded plastic. Pros: it's cheap and easy. Cons: I don't know how well it works, or long the results will last. And, if it doesn't work, …

One of the small half-round covers that covers the bottom mount/bracket of the hatch lift is missing, so I'd like to get a new replacement. The ZCD doesn't have it on any of the diagrams, and I can't find a photo of one via a Google search. What exactly is the thing called? Can anyone tell me of a source for one? It's the passenger side part.

I need to rebuild both seats. Please let me know if you have done business with http://www.classicdatsun.com/ It looks like if I buy the upholstery kits and new foam together it is $405 for both seats ... $ 90 cheaper than the Z store (and the site says they are the same kit). I'm not looking to go crazy ... just something as good or maybe a little better than the originals. Also, if there's a better solution for redoing the strapping underneath the seat bottom than the kit at http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic08f04/40-2690 please let me know. Finally, I recall reading somewhere I may need a professional to install the covers using heat guns, etc. If that's th…

Hi Guys, I've decided to try and learn to repair the 72 model Hitachi Radio. KM-1520ZC however I cannot find this manual anywhere. I have 1 for TM-1081ZB(S) but not the 72 model radio. The radio powers up, has static but doesn't tune into anything. I have so far managed to repair the tuner needle which wasn't moving when the knob was being turned. Think that is resolved now but next up I need to determine why it won't tune into anything. Just stumbled across this guys videos and think it might be useful.

Hi guys, Just bought a 1973 with a re-done interior and center console in good shape. But there is an empty slot where the choke handle would normally be (car has triple Mikunis so previous owner probably just yanked it). Am out looking for Series 2 240Z choke assembly with handle and cables, wondering if anyone knows if the 260z choke assembly will also work - they look almost identical. Also, anyone know what is supposed to go over the holes to the right of the choke lever slot? Thanks

Hi everyone, My car didn't come with seat belts and I'm trying to install them now. If I may get some help trying to identify which one of these two of three bolts are used for the seat retractor (not shoulder), and which one goes on the tranny tunnel attachment point. Secondly where do I attach the two pieces of thin metal? Any pics would help. Thank you. Howard 1974 260z

Got my new rear interior plastic panels know how the hell do you install them without cracking them. I can't remove the strut bracket as they are welded. Anyone have any tricks to putting them in? Thanks

Hey guys, my father gave me his '78 280z for my first car about 2 ago and i've always been able to go to my father with any issues. Although i figure i should learn how to work on the car without relying on my dad. Currently i'm looking to replace some of the bulbs on my gauges because the light blue/green ones that a are currently in there are so dim and/or broken that it's should ridiculous to attempt to see them at night. Anyone have any pictures/instructions on how to remove the gauges and where to buy bulbs? I've been seeing bulb kits online but i was more wondering if it were possible to buy bulbs at Walmart for instance or if they are proprietary? Thanks,…
