I installed a new MSA headliner today. I found that if I stuck old licence plates in the moldings around the perimeter to hold up one side while I glued the other it turned into a pretty easy job for one set of hands. It turned out great with no bubbles or wrinkles. It only took about an hour and most of that time was spent waiting for the adhesive to setup. Not a big deal but I thought I would share.

Hello everyone. I am about 90% complete with the placement of the wiring and switches on the dash. I was having a real problem with the cigg lighter and hazard switch installation. I don't know what happened before me, but this bracket is all out of alignment. Does anyone have a photo by any chance of the bracket unbent? It took me a while to try and align it, but only to have either the hazard out of alignment or the cigg lighter out of alignment. Also looks like someone stretched out the holes on the dash for the hazard/cigg lighter. Can I somehow fill this in with a plastic filler? Thanks for your help!

Hello everyone, just rebuilt the heater box, heater core, installed new foam everywhere. I have installed the heater box and the cables. My dash is not in yet as I wanted to take care of this first and then put the dash. I have installed the heater control mechanism cables to the appropriate section of the heater box excluding the blower motor flap. My question: 1. Is there a bracket that holds the long cable to the blower motor flap? My box doesn't seem to have it. 2. I know the heater cable mechanism attaches to the back of the heater control panel, is there another mounting point behind the heater control mechanism? 3. Will I have an issue installing the dash with …

Can anyone tell me if the seat sliders from a 280z are the same as the sliders from a 240-260z? Thanks, Chris

Any one have any tips on how to flatten out a warped Spare Tire cover? Mine was in good shape, but I had a Tail Gate water leak and particle board cover got wet. As luck would have it, my Tool Box was sitting on top and warped the cover. Cover is in really good shape, and I'd just like to flatten it out. I was thinking one of those Steam heaters and then some weight on top, or maybe wetting it down again and putting a sheet of Plywood and heavy weights on top? Your thoughts folks? TIA

I have a 1972 Z with the typical "waving speedometer problem". I tried cleaning and lubing the cable, but it was just too far gone. The problem was getting worse and then the speedometer started reading about 15 mph low. I replaced the cable and the waving problem went away immediately, but the speedo now reads too slow. I read a great post from a while back how a speedometer needle can get moved from its correct position. Should I try removing the speedometer and resetting the needle position? I know the speedo pinion gear in the transmission is correct for the read end of the car, so unless it has been damaged I don't think that is the problem. Thanks and Happ…

Is there any 'easy' way to do this? I'm trying to remove all of my interior trim to run new speaker wires, but the damn panel retainers are so small and tight I can't get any to pop out. My interior is perfect and crack free and I want it to remain that way. I also have no broken or missing panel retainers. I also like that.

hi, Has anyone tried the carpet and/or seat kits from Z Car Source , and does anyone know if they are the same manufacture as carpet/seat kits sold by MSA? I want to re-do mine in a hurry, and can't figure out which seats covers are the good ones. I know there are some poorer ones out there. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears. Thank you I'm tempted by this combo kit: http://www.zcarsource.com/carpet-vinyl-seat-upholstery-set-280z-77-78-late-77-coupe-black-new-kit_8_56097_197107.html

I found a box in the pile-o-stuff with original diamond-pattern vinyl for the resto I'm undertaking, but the carpet I've been given looks pretty bad for a resto car. It would be sub-par for a street car that needs some form of carpet or another, but not ideal for a resto at all. dying it with Rit won't save it, so I'm on the lookout for a 3rd party set... But after looking at 5 different websites, and from my passed experience with my Z31 300zx carpet purchase- I will say that I am weary of just buying any one of the items I've stumbled across. Does anyone make a reproduction item that is as close to early 70's as possible? Or is it even possible to get NOS ones? look…

Is it possible? the 280Zed doesn't have them in stock form, but Personally, I cold use them so I wouldn't have to lay my race entry tickets, toll ticket, receipts, or any other loose papers on the passenger seat. I would suppose so; you just sew, glue, staple or otherwise attach a bit of vinyl or some flexible material with an elastic band at the top, with enough gathered material so you can put your map in the pocket. Is there such a thing as an add-on pocket, in either cloth/vinyl or rigid plastic? My DD has plastic bins on the doors where I keep some tools or rags/gloves.

Dear Forums, I have a '77 280Z and I wanted to install an extender for the stock shifter to decrease the distance between the steering wheel and the knob. From what I understand, the original thread size is 8mm....is that correct? I can't find an extender that fits that size. Anyone know of one? Thanks!
