Never had this happen before, but I only get heat on one side of the interior. I'm not talking forced air- I have that both sides. Air only comes out warm on the passenger side. I think there can only be one explanation for this - half the heater core is clogged. Anyone else experience this? I was going to try and backflush the core so I don't have to remove it- any suggestions?? I googled this and read somewhere that the person forced water through the core in the opposite direction and loosened junk up in there.

Hey guys! I'm finally get the Z painted and I'm doing some things in the meantime. I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction on how to refinish/restore the aluminum kick/threshold plate for my 73' 240Z. This is the plate that is at the bottom of the door on both sides and says "Datsun". I don't have any bench tools or anything, so simple would be best I have tried simple green and a scotch bright pad with no luck. I would REALLY like them to shine tho, so if I can't do that with simple tools, does anyone know a place that could do it for me on the cheap? I'm in Orange County, CA :-) Much appreciated!

Hello, I have been interested in a WASO key which is for a steering lock,it is a longer key than a VOSS key. Please see my web site, http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/manykeys.html The first right key is the WASO key. This key should have a code prefix "FHxxxx".You can see the length is different from the next one. I guess the WASO key was applyed for early HS30. The second from the right is the VOSS key.We (early HLS30 cars like up to mid 1971?) are familier with this key.Very early cars might have 2 types of prefix "FHxxxx" and "VHxxxx". Because VOSS took after WASO in late 1969-early 1970.So "FH " is not only for a WASO key, this is complicated. The overall length…

My Z has had a hole in the vinyl in the area of the throttle slot for years...too many years to remember!! The attached pictures show a simple fix: Find a piece of plastic with a surface textured similar to the surrounding vinyl, cut it to fit, place it and colour it to match. In this case, the plastic is from the lid of a bottle of almonds.

Recently the Z's antenna stopped working in both directions. However, the motor that drives it sounded 'nonmal'. Upon reading multiple threads on this site and elsewhere I decided to attempt a fix. It can be done!! Somebody/somewhere suggested using Trimmer Line if the problem was the result of a broken plastic drive cable...which this was. The replacement cable is 46.25" of 0.13 trimmer line which cost $0.80 at a local farm store. Please note a couple of take-aways if you attempt this: 1) Write down everything you remove as you remove it...do not rely on your memory! Place all the removed parts in sequence. Hint: Take a series of pictures. 2) Use heat to remove the plast…

I recently bought the vinyl kit for my door panels from Classic Datsun Motorsport. The quality exceeded my expectations! Then came the problem. I discovered that my door panel pressed board was kind of wonky... Here is the good news; I have a friend in Oregon who has a company that manufactures parts for vintage Porsches. His quality is impeccable. If he can't make it better or as good as OEM, he just will keep trying till he does. He made door panels for my 914 with a fiberglass core and new vinyl that looks EXACTLY like the factory panels. They will never warp because they are fiberglass and could care less about moisture. He has agreed to make door panel cores out of …

Higuys, The ashtray cover (on the centre console, aft of the shifter) has a solid handle that has two grooves in it. Is it supposed to be unpainted, or chromed or what? Since most things have a bit of chrome finish to it, I thought some chrome paint could be flowed into it for just a bit of color or it could even be filled white white or chrome paint. thxZ

Yesterday night I took apart my center console in haste n didnt take a pic of the throttle choke assembly before removing it. May be a long shot but does anyone have a pic of it? I think I got the pivoting part put back together to the V shaped housing. Think I'm off were the cable latches onto the cylinder screw.

Hi all, How do the two middle vent parts I have marked on the drawing seal against each other? The drawing is from a 71 FSM and my car is a 70 but I imagine they would be the same on this. I noticed a black powdery substance in that middle vent underneath the vent part that rotates. Is that the remnants of a seal that used to be there? The part on the right is a flat piece of metal riveted to the part immediately next to it further on the right. Thanks

Is there a current acceptable option for restoring a cracked dash between dash cover and spending $1200 to have it restored at a day shop? What else works?

After finishing up my carb work I took her out for a drive and low and behold my next project surfaced. My car has previously been spot on with heater controls and A/C function. But now, I seem to have this strange problem on my 71 240Z with dealer installed AC (AC is irrelevant I think, but just to be sure I included it) AIR Off--------Vent--------Heat ------------------------ TEMP Off---------------------Heat ------------------------ DEF Def---------------------Room As denoted by the location of the smilies, in this config, with the car fully warmed up, I get very warm air blowing through the defrost vents near the windshield. All is well. H…
