The carpet kit was waiting for me on the front porch when I got home from work. I will document my installation progress over the next few days. My first impression is: well I am not super impressed, but I am not discouraged ether. I think the more carfull I am installing it the better the outcome will be. For starters I have simply laid the cargo area carpet in the car to help flatten it out, so far it fits pretty good. One question though, The cargo area carpet extends down the front shelf behind the seats. Should I cut this into two peices or fold it? Any tips would be great before I start.

Okay guys, I'm having a predicament. My A/C works, but my defroster, and heater no longer works. I've taken what I can apart and can't seem to find out what's wrong. My plan is to remove the heater core, and misc. heater parts. My plans are going to install a universal heater, such as http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-991106/?rtype=1 Or the Flex-A-Lite Mojave unit. But has anyone done anything like this before? I know people usually do it backwards (removing A/C leaving heater). -Steve

Since acquiring my series I, I have been sorting out various issues including gas fumes in the interior. After reconnecting the vapor control valve to the intake manifold, I noticed I still had the smell of fumes when I parked the car overnight with the windows closed. Yesterday I opened up the right rear interior panel to examine the vapor recovery system expecting to find rotten rubber hoses. The hoses were in surprisingly good shape, so I started examining the fitting when I found the forward tank vent hose nipple was broken off the recovery tank. Aparently someone had shortened the hose at sometime and left the nipple under tension. The through hole in the nipple was …

Is it just my Z, or is the action of the turn signal stalk on our cars incredibly mushy? Call me OCD, but the flimsy stalk and ooze into the detent at the end of its travel definitely have a somewhat negative effect on my overall driving experience in the Z. Other cars, whose turn signal stalks snap into position with a positive, non-flimsy *click* or *thunk* just feel that much more special and substantial to drive. It doesn't help, either, than the action of the headlight switch is excellent and free of play. So is it just my Z? If not, does it bother anyone else? And is there anything that can be done?

The Dec 71 240z I just picked up has AC. The plastic panel above the passenger's feet says "DAT AIR" on it. Anyone know about this mfgr. and the configuration?

I just purchased a repro glove box since my original was missing. It did not come with screws though there is one still in the hole of dash. That one is black. Looking around I saw this and was wondering if they should be black or silver? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-260z-Glove-Box-Retainer-Screws-NOS-/370657406548?hash=item564ce72e54&item=370657406548&pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr Which is correct and do I only need four? Thanks, Greg 73 240z

I have a 76 280Z coupe. I replaced the stock seats with seats from a 90's 300ZX and had them recovered in leather. I am now wanting to replace all the vinyl in the interior with matching vinyl from the seats, but need to kow how many yards I should buy? I plan on replacing the following. 1. Strut towers and wheel wells 2. Dog panels behind the seats 3. Storage panel front 4. Headliner 5. A pillers 6. Top of windshield 7. Sunvisors 8. Scuff plates 9. Panel on Back hatch 10. MSA Style speaker panel So how many yards of vinyl would you think is needed?

Hi All, At the Rochester car show last summer I met someone from the Ontario Z Car Club who had tweeters mounted in the center of the eyeball vents. I'd like to do the same, but I can't find any tweeters that are small enough to fit the opening, which measures 1.13". I've called several manufacturers, but even those tweeters advertised as .5" are actually much larger because of the mounting cups. Since I know that there is at least one tweeter that will fit I'd appreciate your help in identifying the exact model. Thanks.

Not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but I learned something neat about the odometer today. You see five digits when you look at the odometer, but there are actually six digits available. There is a "tenths" digit on the odometer that is screened by the hole in the speedo face. Here's the front. There are five digits: And here's the guts. There are six digits, and the extra one is tenths: Who knew!?!
