Just finished restoring my tail lights and one thing I did may help people so I'll pass it on. Not really mind blowing but useful :-). When I took them out I noticed the "melted plastic" I'll call it that retained the nut and cap for each hole was so brittle it wouldn't hold the nuts in anymore. Half or more of the 16 total nuts were falling out the back because the plastic the factory melted over was dried out and nearly gone. It's a miracle the PO didn't lose these lights honestly. Went to home depot got this fix it putty I've used in the yard to stop PVC leaks and it was excellent at repairing each nut placement. It even dried an exact match to the color of the p…

Hi Folks, I have a 1970 I've been tinkering with as time allows. The car originally had a blue interior, but then some nice person screwed down brown carpet, and another nice person after that installed black carpet and black vinyl in back. I am restoring to the original blue. I still have most of the interior bare, but I'm close to being ready to re-assembly everything. Just finished cleaning out the heater core and blower, should be able to get that reassembled by end of this week. I found a NOS pointy tip about a year or so ago and just getting around to install it in my 6/71. It's a pain in the arse let me tell you. I'm either way off or something is missing. Does anyone have picture of the original setup and also what the bracket looks like? Here is a picture of the antenna as I received it, are these pieces at the top in the right order? Assuming they are, when i try to put it in the toothed half wheel seems too small for the hole in the panel and keeps coming up through no matter what i do to steady it for the washer and nut.. I must be missing something because it's near impossible to orient these with only the two hands God gave me lol.…

I've undertaken an interior restoration and taking it as far as I can based on my skills. Starting with the rear I stripped it all down to the bare metal, did my por 15 and repaint, and am now ready to put the sound deadener back. I chose kilmat 100 for a decent price to performance ratio before I really got into this effort. After I've painted the bare metal it looks so nice I'm almost hesitant to put the shiny stuff down rather than something more original I could paint. I have the moldy, torn, original Jan 71 240z firewall insulator that I wish to transcribe to a new material. Can anyone recommend a material to use? I plan to put peel-and-seal on the fire wall along with bubble foil for sound deadening and thermal insulation so the new material does not have to insulate. Maybe even just a semi-hard material to replicate the carboard/masonite part of the insulator will suffice. I need some ideas before I hit the material/fabric/building supply stores Thanks as always!

I am re-skinning the doors of my 1970 240Z, putting them back to blue. When I removed the door cards, I checked to see how much rust could be found inside the cavity of the doors (luckily: none, except some very light surface rust inside the very very front of the passenger door. Also at the very very front there, was a lot of stuff. Washers, bits of old clip cups, etc. But these 2 white mystery disks... Anybody know what these are?

So, I did a scan of this panel. I don't have a 3D printer, but I thought that if anyone wanted to make an attempt at it or needed the part, I'd post it. I'm not real good with this whole 3D printing thing, but I'm having a good time playing with scanning these various parts. Here's the file. If anyone uses it, please let me know the results. Does anyone have the upper portion of a steering column shroud for a 76 (I don’t know if there are year differences) that they could get a good scan of or if they already have an STL of it, I’m in need of it. I’ve got my original lower that I’ll be scanning and making an STL of it so I can get one 3D printed. I’m planning on doing more scans and creating STLs of as many parts as I can. I’m using the PolyCAM app on my phone.

Hi everyone, I am about ready to start the interior restoration process of the early Series 1, 1970 240z... and I am curious to know if there are going to be any "gotcha!" moments when installing things on the bare painted chassis from the ground up. There are literally no parts on the chassis interior. I've made a list below. If anyone has insight- that's be helpful! 1) I am not sure if I should use some sort of sticky tape to make it removable at some point, or if I should do it how they did it from factory and glue it down. Hey Guys, Looking to get new carpet put in my Z. The rear carpet is specifically giving me trouble. My car has the special "raised" deck, which I don't know if that makes a difference. Anyways I was wondering what company makes the most original looking carpets for these cars. In addition, does anyone know if I can get new carpet to work with these straps? I am not sure if they are original or not, but they are a cool feature, just unfortunately sewn into the carpet. Getting tired of looking at this faded, dusty, torn and ratty rear carpet. The heater in my 77 always blew hot regardless of where I put the temperature slider and I tracked the problem down to a faulty water **** valve under the dash. I had the capillary style valve (http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/thread46448.html) and spent a little time looking into a direct replacement, but after spending that kind of "quality time" working under the dash, I decided that I never wanted to go through that again. So I changed over to a ubiquitous newer style water control valve which I relocated up in the engine compartment instead of under the dash. Has anyone repaired a domelight? I have 2 of them in pieces, the arm that holds the switch together snapped off, perhaps a more modern push button switch can be installed into the same position? I lost the spring that is used in the OEM switch, it must have walked off my desk at some point 😞 One of the metal tracks looks like it heated up real good, the plastic looks melted where it contacts the strip 😞
