On a previous post by me I am looking for info on how to tell the difference between 240 260 and 280 seats because I ordered mechanism covers for my 280 and they didn't fit. I found in one of my Car and Driver books articles published on the 75 76 and 77 280's. These articles were printed when those years came out of the factory. There are very good pics of the interiors and all 3 years show horizontal lines in the seats. Same as mine. So I'm going to assume that the mechanism covers I bought are incorrect. If anyone has original un-restored seats can you attach pics for me. Maybe one of the mechanism side and just a straight on pic of the seat itself. Would be greatly ap…

How do you tell the difference between 240, 260, and 280 seats? Does anyone know? I want to order a seat upholstery kit. I was told by someone 6 years ago that the seats in my 280 are not 280 seats. I can't remember if he said 240 or 260. But he knew right away they were not 280 seats. He has since passed away so I can't ask him. Any help is appreciated. I recently posted pics but I guess not very good ones because no one responded. Bob

Hi, I have the possibility of some nos seat belts to replace the old ones in my 1974 260Z 2 seater, but am not sure if they will fit. The belts I think are for a 240Z, this is the image I have been sent of them and I think the Datsun UK part number is ND3 Does anyone know if these will fit my car...?? Many thanks, JK

Hi guys, I think I overdid with my sound deadening material, jute padding and a carpet in the gas pedal area. My 10 size shoe rubs against the brake pedal. The interior has been redone, the carpet/jute padding were glued there since the molded carpet was 'sticking out' too much causing interference with the gas pedal getting stuck on its own. I was afraid I was going to repeat the stuck Toyota's gas pedal syndrome :-). I found a thread which deals with replacing the pedals with aftermarket parts: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?15438-Pedal-Upgrade&highlight=gas+pedal+move I am considering a few options: 1. With a BFH and 2x4, hammer down the tunnel m…

can anyone tell me if these are 240, or 260 seats. I'm pretty sure they are not 280 seats. I ordered seat mechanism covers for a 280 and they didn't fit. So I have to assume they are 240 or 260 seats. I just need to know which. Thanks. Bob

Ok...new to the forum and have a question...is a white interior worth keeping? I must admit that with my limited 240Z experience I have seen few cars with white interiors and lots with black ones. My personal preference is a black interior, but I am also a "purist" (previous experience with Camaros and Mustangs...please don't hate me) and am leaning towards the white interior if it can be resurrected to look showroom new once more. The current interior looks like hell...white vinyl on the tunnel is streaked with brown, buckets are shot, and the rear plastic trim is basically tan and falling apart. Can the white vinyl pieces still be sourced, or can black pieces be dyed or…

I've looked through the previous threads and haven't found anything regarding whether the 240Z black door panels are still available through Nissan. I have seen a few sets of these sell on Ebay...always in the $500-750 range. Are they still available and what are the part numbers? I am converting my original white interior to black (exterior color is code 110...red-orange) and will need black door panels. Is the appearance of the newer panels much different than the originals...I have heard the grain of the vinyl replacements is somewhat different. Another question...the white trim around the windshield is held in place by the w/s gasket and appears to be the most difficu…

I was poking around as usual today and I noticed the light switch inside my glove box. I popped a bulb in and to my delight it worked. Here's the problem (and I'm sure this is quite typical). The glove box door is warped so it doesnt depress the switch button and turn off the light. It looks like a new door from MSA is $80. Any ideas on clean ways to extend the switch plunger to make it longer and therefore turn off the switch with the warped door I have? Of course, I can also try to extend the door area where it is supposed to hit the switch, or both. Has anyone ever successfully 'unwarped' one of these doors? Finally, I have pictured the door. The 'Datsun'…

Have tried to search the forums looking for info on removing the heater and a/c box from inside my 72 240Z. I need to remove it so that I can finish the rust and rot repair on the passenger side of the car. Didn't know which forum to post this in so if there is a better one please let me know. Thanks!

Have a bead on an early 260 parts car. But I primarily need interior pieces. Console, door panels, etc... will they fit my car. Not concerned with originality just function. Unrelated to interior but guy says he has l28 5 speed but doesn't know whether it came from z or zx. Where are numbers I can look up located on tranny or is there and easy way to determine what it is? Thanks
