Any ideas on how to preserve and protect the chrome vacuum plating on plastic parts and door panels? It seems to be so fragile after 30-40 years.

I'm looking to put a wooden Nardi steering wheel in my '71 240z. Does anyone know where I can find a Nardi hub adapter for the car? I did a search on the forum and the part number is 4301001003 but apparently its been discounted. I read somewhere I can buy a MOMO hub and then use a MOMO/Nardi conversion adapter. Is this the only route? I plan to install some form of a quick release as well (NRG) to protect my car from thief. Do NRG make quick release in Nardi bolt pattern and pitch? I'm afraid after the hub adapter + the conversion adapter + then the quick release would build up the steering column and make my steering wheel too close to the chest (no to NASCAR style )…

 Just noticed the new driver-side B/S Weatherstrip from BD that i installed October of last year is torn. Not sure if i should even waste my time contacting BD and order from another place. I looked at other suppliers and have a question, what is "Welting" ? I see it listed installed on some of the weatherstrip's for sale.

I recently purchased some new door panel skins from DatsunParts.com (http://www.datsunparts.com/2334). I had a local interior shop repair the old door panels and install the new skins. They turned out real nice!

Hello fellow Zophites I’m looking into having reclining seat mechanism covers made for my Z and was wondering how much of a demand there is for them aside from my own. If they turn out nice and if there is enough interest, I’ll see what it’ll cost to have more made. I’ll also look into having covers made for the early non-reclining seats if I get enough interest for those and can get a hold of a used set of covers to work from. I can have them made out of steel or aluminum and they should have the same texture as the original plastic covers. They would be within 2% accurate to the original and they can be painted matt black or possibly have a crinkle finish. Let m…

Going to give the inner hatch seal the "old college try" today. When removing the old one, about half of it was tucked under the plastic panels, and the other half was over them. Over has a more "finished" look I guess. Which way should they be? 72 240 btw Thanks! Leonard

Hiya. I managed to remove the old and worn out fuzzy strips with sharp knife. I just straightened the staples and pull it out. I got the new strips from MSA. Should i glue them back to place or what? I'd rather use some "soft" method to install them rather than just stapling them. New strips have some removable stripe on the backside, first i tought that there is glue under it but there werent. What is the purpose of this? Cheerz

left only the a pillars and headliner because they are mint and didn't want to press my luck. a lot of the tar mat fell right off with just a plastic scraper. I need to find a place to buy dry ice at so i can get the rest off as painlessly as possible. one thing I noticed is that the PO had the wrong inner rubber shift boot(not the outer vinyl one but the one inside that that seals from the outside elements) the one they had was too small seems i need a bigger one.. I need to find where to get that and also the smaller rubber one over the gear bushings.cant wait to find more time to get rid of the rest of the tar mat then paint the interior with the SEM rust shield I bou…

after I apply sem rust shield to the interior of my gutted out car I plan on a layer of fatmat(sound deadening material). They sell it in 50mill and 80mill thickness. since I need to put my vinyl back over it I was thinking the thinner one but still want to cut down road noise as much as possible. also is 50 square feet enough to do entire floor hatch and firewall areas? or should I get 100 sqft and do the doors and roof also? thanks in advance

Hey guys I finally did the heater core on the Z. All the interior hoses were purchased at autozone and fit almost perfectly (one needed "some" trimming but it fit great). If anyone needs the part numbers or pictures or help with the install let me know. Jan P.S Oh lord is it nice to have heat when its cold outside. (and yes I know ~30 isn't cold for you individuals up north)
