I have a an early 71 dash that's complete that I'm thinking about giving away with a car I'm selling. It has one pretty decent sized crack in the top, otherwise is good to fair condition. Is an early dash worth anything after it's cracked?

Looky what I’ve been doing: First, strip entire unnecessarily complex dash from car Remove blower box components for rebuild Before After Install new gauges and re-wire dash Kinda proud of this… I had to locate the dimmer for the new gauges, but the dash is so thick it was going to be hard to mount it in the stock location. However, I took the old “trip” reset knob, coupled the Speedhut dimmer knob to it (via the long spring-snake) and pushed it back onto the dimmer pot stud. Makes for a really cool remote dimmer switch that uses stock pieces, looks factory and more importantly keeps me from drilling more holes in my dash. Sure, it’s technically on …

One of my fusible links is broken where it screws onto the fender wall. Is there anything that will work to glue it back together? Thanks

Would someone please tell me if the welt on the perimeter door weatherstripping is supposed to overlap the rear window interior plastic panel or go under it?

Ok, so rather then keep on going off-topic in the Honda Motor thread, I'd thought I'd jump in to my own and keep it simple. So, what I've done so far is to remove the AC system in the passenger footwell. (At least that is what I am hoping is the AC system hahah.) I unbolted everything and it pulled straight down and out. What's left is now just the blower and I found the power and ground wires. So . . . Ignition turned to on and knob turned to HIGH, I tested at the motor and no juice was apparent. I then looked at where the wiring went and found that it when to a cable above the motor that had about 3 other wires going into it. This cable then connected to another cable…

I recently decided to try building new door panels for my 71 240z. I have the originals but the board backing is damaged beyond repair. The originals are in good enough shape to give me a good template. I went to home depot and bought some board that is pretty close to exact to the board in the original panel. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the bend into the new board piece like the original has. An idea I had was to remove some of the material along the intended crease, make the bend, and epoxy the curvature to hold it tight. Let me know what you guys think, Adam

Does anyone know if a rollbar from a 2 seater coupe will fit in a 2+2? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave B.

Hi I want to order a carpet kit for my 1978 280z but my rear cargo area is raised but drops down at the rear shock towers and there is a 2 handle lid that lifts up to give access to the storage area below. Will a regular carpet kit work? Here are a couple of pictures. I've never seen a configuration like this before. Is this a mod that someone did? Also is this carpet loop or cut pile? Thanks Randy

Hey guys, I recently replaced the heater core in my 1977 Datsun 280z and when I went to switch the top level (from ac, to bi level , to heat, to defrost), the switch felt rather loose and it didn't seem to switch anything. It opens the two bottoms doors (below the heater core), but does not seem to do anything else. I believe something is not connected but I can't seem to find out what. I'm really frustrated, and just want to figure this all out. Thanks John

I owe a thank you to someone... I just did a search to see if I could figure out who. A year or more back, someone gave a head-up on a Craigslist like new dashboard in the Seattle area. The price was dirt cheap considering it was like new, has all the gauges installed and wiring harness in place. $300 as I recall. I had a friend local to the guy make the deal in person and pay cash. He held the dash until spring in his spare bedroom and then brought it down to me in the back of his SUV. Anyway, today my '73 240Z got treated to a like new dashboard and a Mr. K autographed glove-box door. Not quite ready for pictures yet but soon. I have to pick up the newly powdercoated da…

I was putting my new carpet in #32 today and after I got it all back together it seemed like I had a lot of extra length left over on the luggage straps. I looked at my other cars and noticed the top part of the strap with the buckles was much longer in #32 than the other straps I have. I have some extras from parts cars, so I switched them out with a smaller pair. I also noticed that there seem to be two different types of material used on the strap sets I have. On some sets the material is rougher and has more of a square weave to it, and on other sets the material is much smoother and has more of a diagonal weave to it. The smoother set seems like it is made out a…

One of the pins (in the console) that allows the fuse box cover to pivot is broken on my 73. There was a post about repairing this about six months ago, but I can't find it. I recall that the recommended approach was to use a right angle drill to drill out the stub and replace it with ??? I can't find a suitable replacement. Suggestions? Thanks.
