(If somebody knows a thread that deals with it, let me know - I couldn't find one) The outside door handle on our '72 240Z doesn't open the door anymore. Its functionality deteriorated over a couple of weeks and now doesn't work at all. The inside handle opens the door, but not all that well. Looking at some door latch mechanisms I have seen online, it looks like there are some return sprints and obviously some moving parts. Is there a common service that can be performed on these to make them work better, or is replacement the only option. And if replacement, does anybody know where to go to find them? MA seems to be out of them. Maybe the fix will be more…

I have a 5/71 which originally came with the Type A 4 speed. Sometime in its life, it was swapped with the type B transmission. Series 1 and early series 2 cars had the rear diff in a location closer to the front of the car. When the transmission was swapped, did that also require a shorter driveshaft? Do you think my rear diff is now in the same location as a '72 ? I would like to replace my rear diff mount bushing but they are NLA for a 71. I will need to use a '72 mount bushing which I think it requires a different bracket around my diff. My hope is that has already been done. Anyone think the bracket has already been swapped and diff is already moved t…

Thought I would start a thread in lieu of finally getting my 71 running this weekend!!!! The car had been in a 5 year hiatus before I bought it, and due to other projects has sat for another 2 years while in my possession. But on this memorial day weekend I was determined to get as much done as possible with the single goal of getting it going. The car came with a l28 head l24 combo:sick:, which also happened to be missing a valve guide. The engine was swapped out for an l24 block early e88 head courtesy of CL. I installed the engine a while back, had the SU's rebuilt, and toyed with ideas of elec ignition. Yesterday, with everything hooked up, stock points distr…

No, the company isn’t going anywhere! I am. After being a faithful customer for years, I was very disappointed to see them institute a new “International Shipping Policy”. Now any of my orders have to ship by Fedex or UPS and come with a minimum cost of around $40 US for an average size small order (think 3lbs of powder coat powder). An order that costs about $40 US is hit with another $40 US shipping fee PLUS a document fee and import taxes etc. Most of my small orders prior to this were exempt the import taxes and document fees as they shipped through USPS. So, goodbye Eastwood.com. You have finally made it easier for you, and impossible for me, to justify buying anyt…

I've been fantasizing about a project car for a while now. I have never had a full-on project car. I've done some of my own car maintenance, but nothing too crazy. I do my own oil changes, I've changed spark plugs (flat Subaru engine) and I recently fabbed up a bracket and installed an oil catch can in my new car. While I have limited car experience, I'm generally pretty tool-competent. I build custom electric guitars, I do other woodworking, etc... I used to be a bicycle mechanic a long time ago (think Tour de France, not Moto GP). While I recognize that bicycles are significantly less complex than motor vehicles, I suspect the same diagnosis/troubleshooting mind…

Hey! I've spent a while looking for a cheap car. I really only care that it has a decent/fixable body. I've come across a few for less than 1k, but the sales keep falling through. Any leads or suggestions?

This tag is in a 1972 240z engine compartment, regular tag has been removed. This 1972 has an early 1973 engine (1-73 or 2-73). "Big Eddie" replaced engine 8-14-78. Is this work done by a dealer under warranty ( I don't think so)? Was there a law at one time that required this tag being installed if engine was replaced?

i have 78 280z with 280zx rear disc conversion. I would have thought the 280zx conversion would not have any issues with bias since it came from a 280. My issue is that i can press the pedal about half way before i get any sort of braking happening. I can smash the pedal and the car will brake, but i cant lock all 4 tires. All 4 corner calipers have been fully rebuilt, stainless braided lines so no deformation of hoses, new bleeder screws. Use vaccum bleeder on all 4 corners multiple times and at the master cylinder. There are no leaks that i can see any where. I did see online that the wilwood master cylinder says it will solve braking bias with…

Seems odd these days to reference print magazine articles, but there’s a nice writeup on MZR and their shop of Z wonders in the March/April R&T. They’ve been discussed here before as a unique operation specializing in S30 re-engineering and reconstruction with stunning results. (Attached photo is a sample from their site rather than the article)
