Can anyone help me find out the country of first sale of HLS30-00957 ? I bought this car some years ago in British Columbia, Canada, and am in the middle of a restoration from the shell - up, with a full repaint in the original 918 orange. I was told by the seller that it was originally an Oregon car, but there is no documentation of that. I have tried to go through the Oregon DMV but they require the name of the person that it was registered to way back when, and I do not have that info. They cannot search on the VIN, since there was no computerized database of car registrations back in the 1970s. I have written to Nissan in Japan and received back a nice …

Hey all, you guys have been very helpful in the past so I figured I'd see what you all think about this Z I found. Expired BaT listing here: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-datsun-240z-75/ Looks like it didn't hit reserve at $7,250, and the current CL price is $10,500. I actually like the look of the G-nose on this one, and I'm not too concerned with low number cars or originality. Obviously, the interior needs some work, but other than that is there anything that particularly stands out? What would a good price be?

Hi, I have a 78z that somehow has 0 rust anywhere except the rear foot of the right frame rail. The bottom of the frame rail is rusted out down there for a good 8 inches. The other frame rail is perfect, with no rust. Floor pans are new. No rust on the suspension or body. So don't really want to scrap it ?. Not sure how it rusted in only that one spot also. But onto my question. I should mention that I am new to dealing with rust, so am seeking guidance here. Would it be better to buy 2 new frame rails and weld the both on or do you think I can just cut that section in the back down to good metal and rebuild those last 8 inches of it? I can weld pretty well but I do …

Barely one day into the auction, bidding for this car looks to be the exception rather than the rule: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-datsun-240z-69/

I have a couple of questions regarding some options that can be done when restoring the price nterior of my series 1. I am having the seats reupholstered with leather, but not sure whether to use vinyl or leather on the tranny tunnel and the rear wheel wells and shock towers. The original vinyl is in perfect condition, but I sort of want to go with the leather since they use the same diamond pattern as the vinyl. Will this hurt or help re-sale if I ever decide to sell it? I have the dash out and am replacing the heater core and actuator. The dash is original and uncracked but I know that it is 45 years old and not sure how long it will stay that way. Do you th…

These are available in the Porsche restoration world but I’ve never seen them in the Datsun world. First a confession: I’ve owned my 240Z since 1980. Somewhere along the line, I put in a Griffin alloy radiator and an overflow tank. I mounted the damned overflow just above the VIN plate. This is the result:

Here are a couple updates until the thread is restored. Got the carbs cleaned up and mostly installed. Got new braided hoses from Jay at http://jdm-car-parts.com/. Jay does a great job with these hoses. The quality is amazing and they look great with the wire clamps. Will continue adding parts to motor. Also doing a bit of interior work.

Well here is something that stopped me dead... This thread on HybridZ is about a widebody kit that is being developed for a race car, but I just couldn't believe this wouldn't be a best seller as the next generation retro Z car! Nissan should look at something like this, maybe a little less rear wing and canards, but the overall styling would be a hit IMHO. Widebody Kit

I wanted to get a few opinions on whether is is worth spending close to 1000.00 for a stock AM radio to install in my March 1971 build. Car is rust free, glass out repaint, all original interior in near perfect condition. Engine has been completely rebuilt and except for some non braided hoses looks original. Non original parts are: a 280Z 5 speed and an aftermarket CD player. Any thoughts / opinions would be appreciated.
