hey all, got a paint question for you. so i will be painting my '72 240Z this spring/summer, and am neck deep in prep work. i'm feeling really good about where i'm at, but have one question right now. i pulled one of the headlamp enclosures/sugar scoops to deal with some cracking on it. i've got that fixed, but while it's off, i started thinking....during my prep work/priming, i found that the seam between the fender and the sugar scoop just looked generally.....crappy, when painted. parts of the seam show distinct separation, but in other places, the primer kinda "bows" from one to the other. i just found it looking generally shitty. so it got me to thinking; should i pu…

I have a 280z that I installed a Fiberglass air-dam on along with 240 style bumpers. I have now decided that I would like to replace that fiberglass airdam with the Xenon one that uses the 240 turn signals. I have a number of questions for you guys that have done this. As we know this Xenon airdam will require bracing and I'm just looking for some ideas on the best way to go about that. I've already seen a few really crude ones on YouTube. I prefer to make it from aluminum because I live near the ocean and just want to keep it liteweight. Also looking for some cost effective decent looking means of modifying the grill to cover the old turn signal holes in the 28…

"So honey , I bought another Z today" instant response ," you've got to be fu@£NIH kidding me " anyone else have this conversation-lol Anyway, didn't see this one coming but it's landed in my lap. # 4858 , 5/70 build date. Still not even to my house yet and I've spent a total of 15 minutes looking at it. Too many unknowns to answer anything specific , but it's definetly fixable . Actually in pretty decent shape- respective of its age. Update this when I get it home .

Hello everyone, I'm mounting a completely stripped Series 1 chassis to a rotisserie, and it's actually all done, but for some reason it feels like the rear bumper mounts with the M10 bolts are... inadequate? There is absolutely no frame rot, and the car is being held up right now but I have yet to turn it upside down or even on its side. Is it normal to look a little... flimsy when suspended? From what it looks like, the factory bumper mounts are stamped L brackets that are fastened to the underside of the car, somehow on the frame rail above it. How are they tied in? just measly spot welds? I'm afraid to suspend the car upside down with those if that's …

This 240z was setting in a field for about 7 years {with the windows down}next to my brother in laws. The first time I looked at car I saw the floors rusted out and that the sway bar had been ripped from the frame and offer the owner $500. He said no way but about 6 months later he asked my in law if I would still buy car. So for $500 I purchased a 240Z With car in my home pulled fenders off looking for more rust. Other then the floors no rust in car. But noticed where the emblems where the holes had been welded. All the emblems on car had been removed. Also a 5 speed transmission installed. Schell seats where installed. I order Mad Dog frame rails, sway bar stif…

I am considering using a 33318 drier since the supply of 33286 (low intake port) driers is pretty much gone. I got the 33318 on the way but not sure of the correct switch. FSM says its a high pressure cut off, but I assume a binary would be fine. Any one know of a correct sized switch for the 33318? I got a NOS compressor (SWP) ready to go, have some dye in it now to see if there are any leaks around the condenser. It has a slow leak so will need to deal with it in a few months. I just hope its not leaking at the evap. My you tube channel is Dave WM https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxMsHgfGwCVtyRrqXVtll-g

I need to remove the glass from my '77 280z OEM door mounted side mirror without breaking it (hopefully). Does anyone have a good method to remove the glass from the OEM door mirror housing? It appears there is a backing plate the mirror glass is attached to, does anyone know how the glass is attached to the backing plate (glue, double stick tape, etc)? Is there access through the backing plate to the 2 screws that hold the mount for the backing plate into the housing? Does anyone know if there is a source for the replacement mirror glass cut to shape for the '77 280Z?

Damn fellas I'm supposed to fly out to Redmond OR tomorrow and make the 280 mile drive home in my new 73 240. Weather calls for scattered showers and I cringe at the idea of the car being exposed to all that water. Do I make the drive or re schedule? I will lose the cost of the flight ....what would you all do? Thanks Jr Video added Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Hey guys, As you can see in the title, I purchased my first S30 this afternoon from the original owner’s mother. It is a silver 1974 260z. VIN RLS30-035938 with Build Date 5/74. It has rust in the usual places, but starts, idles, and drives. This is my first resto project, and I am excited... I paid $600, and couldn’t be more proud. What details can you gather from my VIN and Build date, as far as production #s, options, etc? PS, I know the 260 is the black sheep, and to some, the least desirable... so if you are going to be negative, I don’t need your opinion. I bought this to restore with my son, not to send to auction. Can’t wait to hear from you guys, THANKS!
