I spotted this on one of my FB groups (S30 Life), looks to possibly be a great product for all S30's. Interesting wording on the product description: an exact fit for '69-72 models to 06/72, then a very good fit for all later models. Anything coming out of the folks at S30 World is usually spot on. https://s30.world/product/datsun-240z-nissan-fairlady-z-set-of-door-rubbers-door-weather-strips-for-lr-side?fbclid=IwY2xjawFn5BlleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHaFz08OpowthIb4moKiiPnBPNcmmq4RaSxakN8zokI1Jhbkwj32GjHmYIg_aem_XFFA0aZ0MJ1qJZtj6rG2cA

I'm going to use this thread to document the progress on installing my Rebello 3.0 motor and other projects on my '73 240Z US model that I have owned for 40 years. Most of the suspension and engine modifications were done in the '70's by the original owner, the Thompson family in Northern California. I have been very slow to get this motor in as I have too many cars, two of which are projects and one is a finished project. Not to mention, I have some learn as I go talent and some that I learned as a teenager from my father and uncles. My Dad was an AT&T exec, but my uncles Donny and Sonny owned gas stations and a wrecking yard. I learned as much as I could from …

1971 240z: I removed the valve cover and manually operated the fuel pump arm. When I release the arm, it sends fuel to the carburetors. I noticed that it takes a noticeable amount of time for the arm to return to its starting position on the cam lobe. During this return, the pressure has a max of 6 psi. I can confirm that the return line produces a visible spray of fuel into a glass jar. Once the spray from the return line diminishes and I see the pressure drop below 3 psi, the pump arm is ready for another cycle. With the engine NOT running, should I assume this is normal behavior? My concern is the time delay. If this delay remains during engine ope…

I've been restoring a 240z for over 4 years now, and in that time, I have been having fun collecting parts for it. It seems to me that there is a fun aspect of this car hobby that comes from finding and obtaining old Datsun parts. I suspect there are many of us here who are "hoarders", those who engage is this aspect of the hobby and who have collected either a large amount of Z parts, or perhaps, some amount of quite valuable Z parts? Or, both? So, who are you on the spectrum? Are you focused on collecting parts for just one car... or do you have a hoard to be envied in either its massive size, or high value? And please share some description or pictures of t…

I bought a low mileage '71 about 9 years ago. Shortly after I bought it, I replaced the brake master cylinder. I probably bought the new brake master at z car depo since that is my usual go to store. My car experienced a mishap while on the back of a flat bed wrecker truck so I now have some unplanned restoration work to be done. I was tearing the car down and removed the master cylinder from the brake booster. Over time, brake fluid has run down behind the aluminum flange and ate the paint from the booster. The bottom bolt on the booster has light rust on it now. It didnt before. I can't imagine that I did anything wrong during installation. If the nut…

I thought that there was a forum for this though did not see it nor could I find a related thread so I'm starting one. I recently saw an S30 Z car on Miami Vice season 3 episode 11 about 30-33 minutes in (on the TV version with commercials, a DVD version it will be earlier that this of course). In this video it is about 27-28 minutes in: https://www.nbc.com/classic-tv/miami-vice/video/forgive-us-our-debts/n30591

I have a 1972 240Z that I'm having an issue with. This past year on a club run, I lost both the temperature and fuel gauges. Prior to losing them I noticed the readings were way off, and swinging slowly from one end to the other before both stopped working all together. I had a similar issue on my Datsun Roadster that I traced down to a faulty instrument voltage regulator, which steps voltage down from 12 volts to about 9 volts for those two functions. I'm wondering if that may be the same issue on my 240Z. I've seen photos of a box on the back side of a 1973 240Z that someone told me provided the same function. If true I'm wondering if that was only on 1973 models, or e…

I posted this issue in my quarter window install thread but wanted to give it is own thread to get more eyeballs on it. Car is a 1976 280z. I just installed my quarter windows and I'm having a bit of interference with the weatherstrip on the top of the door and the vertical weatherstrip on the front of the quarter window. All the weatherstripping is brand new from Precision. How did this work from the factory? Was there interference? Looks like I should probably trim the quarter window weatherstrip back to provide clearance for the door weatherstrip. Any other thoughts?

Hello all, I would like to do a little advertising for this channel here. One of my Z friends is restoring a 240Z and has a very special way of documenting it. I think you will all be very interested and it is super relaxing to watch. In general, this is a very exciting channel!

After more than 50 years my original hood release cable finally gave up the ghost, breaking right at the release latch. The entire replacement is available for around $75, but I thought I'd take a shot at refurbishing the old component parts. Where the cable goes into the T handle, it was originally crimped in place by the factory. My first step was to grind flat the end of the metal rod threaded into the T handle that the cable went into, center punch the end, and drill the center out about 1-1/2" deep with a 1/16" drill, to fit a 1/16" braided cable from the local hardware store (you'll need roughly 4 feet). I also picked up some aluminum crimp on cable stops for the en…
