Picked up the redhead today. Cant have more than 50K miles on it with the PO saying its been garaged for 15+ years! Pretty much rust free body which is why I bought it almost on the spot. Red paint is a cheap spray over the original sky blue. Not a true barn find, but as close as I have come. The floors are great, tank, batt tray, etc, no major dents or bodo, doors close great, interior is all there, except.... it got chevy fever ): I'll be undoing the damage tomorrow and pull the motor/trans combo. I have am L29 with a cam that I have been saving a case such as this. And yes if I went to more meetings I wouldnt have this problem!

This NOS choke knob was in a group of parts I picked up a while back, it's not listed in the online catalog for Z's (the 260Z has a number close to this). Any help on identifying what model car it is for? Thanks!

Alright so this is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this. My dad bought new a 240z in probably 72-73, it was his favorite car and the one he regrets selling. He always talks about this car and said if he had to choose one car to buy before he died it would be another 240. Now that I (his son) am getting older and have more cash flow I wanted to see if maybe I can find his car he had. How do I even go about this. He bought it new in Pittsburgh pa I know what dealer and everything it’s still around, I doubt he has any info on the previous sellers or the vin. I’d love to be able to track down the current owner and depending on its condition put in an offer. I…

I have decided to part with my 1971 240 z , it is a vertical defrost vent unit with a series one manual 4 speed with a/s < not working > , its original color was 905 its serial number is 33776. I have the original window sticker , invoice from the dealer when they got it and most everything til its current 45,00 miles . It has zero rust and now is rosa corsa red with hyashi racing wheels and tires with little mile but dry rotted. The rear brakes don't work properly and the master cylinder for the brakes need replacing which I have and the clutch cylinder needs replacing as well . I haven't started it recently but it always does and runs very well . I am looking for…

Still needs a tune and bumpers and a myriad of other things, but I started it for the first time in 6.5 years (and since the body was restored) yesterday: Before the restoration, way back in 2011: Totally rusted out pass. floor pan and rockers, mismatched tires, faded non-original color paint, etc etc. I've done everything except the actual body restoration (welding, paint, etc). All the disassembly, reconditioning of parts, reassembly, etc. It's been a LOT of work, and it's not over yet, but... I just wanted to take a short victory lap. Thanks for all the support and great advice.

Hi all. I'm hoping you guys can help save me a trip back to the bodyshop for this. So I'm reassembling a 240Z with a restored body. During the painting process, the body guys installed and aligned the hood with the fenders and cowl BUT without the torsion springs in place. Now that I've got the torsion springs back in, they preload the front of the hood and pop it 3/8" or so above the line of the fenders. See attached image. Front-to-back and side-to-side alignment are perfect. The hinges are slid as far down as they can go using the 3 bolts. And the fenders and headlight buckets are pulled up as far as they can go in their bolt slots. Is ther…

Hello My 72 240z has window decals on each of the side quarter windows. On the passenger side is the BRE Datsun 240Z champion decal, which I am familiar with. On the driver side is a decal pictured in the attachment. Does anybody have any information about this decal and what it represents. just trying to,decide,if it stays or goes. If something Z or Datsun related from back in the day, I would probably leave it. Thanks Jim

Howdy, Drove the z yesterday, and no water temp readings on the gauge. So I checked the connection on the thermostat and all looked good. When I got home, I took a jumper wire to the wire to the sender to the shock tower, turned the key, and nothing. So I am thinking my gauge is bad. Did a quick look on eBay, not much there for 140lb gauge. My question is, can these be repaired? Is there someone fixing all 240z gauges or am I just going to be looking for another gauge? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello Still looking for a few parts. This time I am looking for used front and rear overriders for my early 72 Z. The ones on my car have been missing for many years, but were there long enough that you can still see the outlines on the bumper. Mostly any condition is acceptable…but no rusted ones. They will go on the car as is…only a little cleaning up…so as to match the original bumpers. As always, Thanks. Jim
