I just left the DMV and the funniest thing happened. The DMV clerk stated since my car was built in Sept 1970 that it should be registered as a 1970 and not a 1971. I was under the assumption that September signified the start of the new year. In any case, the car is now registered and titled as a 1970. Should I try to correct them or should I just leave well enough alone?

I have a 1976 280z, and CA recently repealed the rolling smog exemption legislation. Since then, I've had a set of headers put on the car. It does have the smog fitting, which has a tube running from the header to the EGR valve. I'm not too worried about the visual inspection, it looks pretty darn clean with that heat sheild hiding most of the header anyway. I'm running a test pipe right now, and I have a brand new cat sitting in my room to swap in on smog day. You think this puts me in good shape? There might be a small leak in the bottom of the header, could this affect my pass/fail status you think? BTW, I'm so pissed my car missed the exemption by no more than 5 mont…

I brought home a parts car today. It is a later '71, HLS30-27602 built 4/71. It is seriously damaged, but still has a fair number of useable parts, some that will go on my car, some I'll keep as spares, and some I'll sell. The poor thing is basically totalled. It had a touch of rust under the battery box when the prior owner's son spun it through the weeds and slid into a telephone pole between 2 and 3 years ago. No body panels are undamaged, and the driver's frame rail is collapsed. So the bodyshell is trash. The engine is supposed to have been in great shape prior to the accident, but the fan was pushed into the radiator and so it hasn't been started in close to 3 yea…

What are your thoughts on Black Dragon and Z Specialties? From what I see they look good. However, I was just wondering what the general concensus was of those of you who have been restoring longer than myself (novice). Such as good quality parts, service, price, etc.? While your reading this lets expand it to any thoughts/comments on your internet "Z" buying experiences!!!

For the vehicle in the signature, what would you recommend for a $500 parts budget to increase the horsepower but stay with the SUs. I'm dreaming of Christmas and need some ideas. (I've already got a header and a 2-1/4 inch exhaust too.) I've thought about biting the bullet and going with a ZTherapy rebuild but that is on the upper end of what I'm willing to spend right now so I'm looking for some other ideas to mull over.

Anybody know who owns this 73? You may recall this car was for sale sometime ago here on this site and sold to someone in Minnesota. I pm'd the original seller regarding it's whereabouts and status, but I don't believe he frequents this site too often. I came this close to purchasing this car at the time but it was simply a case of right car/wrong time. Any help would be great! Regards, Paul

Well, I was set on getting that 1969 Toyota Corona Mark II up until today when my step dad called me and told me that there's a 1969 240Z at an estate sale by his friend's house for free. That's right, a 1969. I told him to tell his friend to go and get it. Its got a manual transmission, and I guess the body is already primered. WISH ME LUCK, and I'll keep you guys posted on the VIN number and the actual condition of the car! - Ian.

A friend just sent me an email . DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM JT OUTFITTERS on eBay . According to my friend , he takes your money and doesnt ship the item and says it is out of stock . If you bitch he gives you a negative feedback and won't return the funds . Says he will ship the item later and it's been over a month . Apparently he has been selling a lot of stuff for Z cars , so be careful . My friend frequents hi-bred Z . Gary
