I got to thinking and was wondering how long have most people had their Z? Some of us have had many over the years and some have just got theirs.

I'm looking for a stock 240 in great shape for a magazine photo shoot to be done in the New England area on or before May 17th. I know that's not a lot of notice but I just found out myself. PM or email ASAP if you and your 240 are available to do this. A great opportunity to have it shown nationally.

It's been quite some time since I've posted here, and I'm sad to say that this post is to point you to my classified ad for my Z. Take a look if you're in the market for a very clean 240Z. I'd like to add my thanks to the many people that frequent this site that have always been so kind and generous. This is a great community and even though I'm selling my Z, I'll always be a Z owner at heart.

Has any one had any trouble with bad idle or backfiring. I took it to a mechanic and he told me it was the air flow meter. I bought another one and the car is still doing the same thing. I have a hard time starting it and it has momments of running good and momments of it bogging down. Need info if you have ever had this problem. Its a 1978 Datsun 280Z fuel injectes L28 4 speed.

Thru a conversation I had with Ron Iskenderian at Isky cams I learned that our US motor oils no longer contain zinc di-phosphate. This is a critical component for our engines. Seems the EPA figured the only cars left that needed it were old rust buckets so what the hell. The idea is that ZDP bonds to the metal and when the oil sheers, the ZDP takes the hit instead of the metal. For a solution he recomends General Motors E.O.S. Assembly Lube (GM part #1052367). It can be obtained thru any chevy dealer. He says to use 1.5 can for break in and .5 can every oil change. I called a family friend at GM who works in the Corvette division and he verified Ron's claim. GM st…

Hello all, As a proud owner of a decently period modified 72 240Z, I am a total stranger to these strange gadgets and wires found on my newly aquired 74 260Z... I am trying to figure out what I can remove, tear out, throw away etc. What's the story on the Mechanical / Electric fuel pump setup? Flat top SU's are clearly a nightmare, but my desire is to simply get it running not to learn the quirks of the carburation setup. I am familiar with the round top SUs, and my Mikuni 44s no problem! Basically any links, diagrams, photos and the like of a stripped down running stock L26 w/ flattops would be awesome. I have already torn out the factory AC unit, with its completely se…

Could anyone either post a picture or direct me to a link that shows the proper spare tire hold down for a series I z? The one I have I got on e-bay and is not right, either the hold down piece is wrong or the 'T' screw is the wrong size. I cant get it to fit so that the top of the screw is below the deck so the fiber board wont sit down. Any help appreciated. Best, H Houghton

Why were the 260z and later 280zx intorduced with bonnet vents if the 240z did well (as far as I know there were no overheating problems with stock engines functioning properly) without them? Was it just for style or did L26 and onwards engines produce that much more heat than L24 (can hardly imagine why, but thought I would still ask)? Or was it only introduced for racing homologation purposes?

How much power can I get from a L24 engine E88 head. (the most for street you can get) I decided to install pacceseter headers 6 to 2 to 1. Crane XR 3000 ignition system and PS91 E Core coil. The distibutor is a Mallory unilite. Im also looking for a good cam but the stock one for the moment. Read in another post that the crane and the stage III from Motorsport Auto aren´t the best so I need to look for a good one first. The carbs are SU. And the exhaust system is Monza. Thanx:)
