I am planning a suspension job on my Z and was planning on getting many parts from the local Kragen Auto parts. Well, I decided to jump on summit and see if they had anything for my 73 240z. I was amazed, they quite a few things for a Z. They have alot of universal items like oil filter relocation kits and spark plug wires and car covers but they also have very Z car spicific stuff, they have struts, brake rotors(drilled or vented), centerforce clutchs, ARP hardware, brake pads, gasket sets. I was really amazed, I never suspected they had so much for a 240z. Check it out here.

I wonder if anyone has tackled installing cruise control in their 240z...I'd like to use it for trips to the beach, etc. I use cc all the time in my conversion van, and I miss it when driving around in my Z. I live in Dayton, Oregon, which is 35 miles out of downtown Portland, and there are some stretches where cc would be nice to have. It seems that the aftermarket cruise control units out there, like Audiovox's CSS-100 http://www.audiovox.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=341067&langId=-1 are meant to be used with the throttle controlled with a cable, not with just linkage, like our 240z's are. Does any…

Went to the local track yesterday with a bunch of ricers and I would suggest my Z was the most photographed car on the day!! Opposition included R33's Supra's V8 Utes, WRX's and Evo's One bloke was even suprised to see that I had real chrome bumper bars If the car was going alright i would have placed around 7th fastest out of 60with my usual track times. Running like a dog at the moment. Just have to solve the unknown problem. She might be old but it can go quick enough (when it wants to:sleepy: ) PS A new trap for young players Was coming onto the straight at the track revving high in 2nd gear trying to sort out a misfire issue, concentrating on the upshift, controlli…

Ok went to the junk yard to pull some relays and other things for the Z and found a Ford Escort radiator that has the right dimentions but the bottom outlet is faceing the wrong way. I pulled this radiator out with the fan shroud and fan still attached. Got home and found out that this Escort shroud will hold the 2 speed Taurus fan just perfect. What makes this such a nice find is the fan is mounted to the side of the shroud. Which is good :rambo: because when installed it will clear the water pump to allow for the taurus fan mod.. The fan will sit just above the AC compressor and just right of the water pump pully. Now this is a theary for test fits by looking and ho…

I am thinking about getting a 280z as a 2nd Z car, either a 75, 76, 77, or 78. I would lean towards a 78 because a 5 speed would be nice, but an automatic wouldn't hurt either. I think I just want something to drive as a daily driver, and I'm ready to retire my 72 from being a daily driver. She deserves it if I can find a 280z to use instead. From the 280z guys, what would you recommend if all else equal, might get an automatic, might get a 5 speed (or 4 speed if a 75/76 was real nice)? I have owned a 74.5 260z, so I am familiar with how a 75 280z would drive, other than fuel injection. And although it could be a money pit, I am interested in expanding my automotive kno…

I just picked this car up about a week ago from a guy who claimed to be the second owner and said he knew the original owner personally. He said the car was modified in 1979. Anyway its a 76 280z and he insists the hood is some rare piece. He didn't say whether or not it came with the car or he had it put on. Anyway if its not a factory option I think the hood was made with the scoop because the hole looks stamped not just cut and he gave me a rubber gasket that appears to be custom made for the scoop. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.
