Need to solve gas fume problems on my 73z(especially bad after overfilling tank) and have read numerous suggestions on various sites but can't decide which avenue to take; 1) Replace all the hoses to/from tank. McMaster-Carr has them cheaper then anyone else I have found. I assume I need to fully remove the tank and reinstall, which sounds like a HUGE job based upon negative feedback. 2) Replace the one vent hose on top of the tank and plug all the others at the tank while also removing the small tank behind the filler nozzle. The lone vent hose would be connected to the down spout somehow. Still, I assume I need to remove/reinstall tank. HUGE job. 3) If replacing the hos…

I have a 71' 240z and the horn works but it sounds very very muffeled. It only lasts for a few seconds, even if I continue to press on it. Do you think I should just replace the horns, or could it be something like the horn relay is bad? Thanks, Mark

Hey everyone. My long terms goal is to get my 76 Z a little faster, a little sweeter, and a little meaner on a moderate, part time, student budget. ~ I found a set of 6-2-1 headers on a junkyard Z for $38 with a little rust, but salvagable. I'm thinking 2.25" tubing with a Dynomax turbo muffler, as it seems to have a pretty good following around here and doesn't require a separate resonator to cut down the interior noise, and the 2.25 tubing will help keep a little backpressure for midrange torque (Should I go 2.5"? please tell me why.) ~ Also, I'm thinking KYB gas non-adjustables, because they cut down on the "Squatting Z" syndrome and aren't as expensive as adjustable s…

I'm waiting to hear back from my buddy, but he has 2) 350Z 6-speed tranni's that he is considering for sale. I figured I'd let you guys know. How much would you be willing to pay for such an Item?? tranni #1 has 1500 miles on it, and tranni #2 has aprox. 3000 miles on it. one was removed from a wrecked 350Z and the other was a factory warrenty replacement. The owner thought there was a problem with it and had it replaced, then found out that the new one had the same exact feel as the first one. therefore, nothing was wrong with it in the first place. how much would you pay if you were interested in them???

http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102801 I posted in wheels/tires section but alas, no one looks there. Seriously, I put the wheel on my Z yesterday, it looks damn hot in my opinion. 16x8, Z bolt pattern +10 offset, and way cheaper than VOLK wheels. I'm not pimping these out to make a sale, I don't get any $ out of it, nor the wheels.

Ahh... the check went through, I got the cashier's check made... and... well now there's a 280Z parked in front of my house. It's really weird though... it's a 1976 model, but it's still got a 5-speed tranny, I was under the impression that 5-speeds didn't make it into Z's until 77? I mean it's quite possible that mine is just a late, late production 76, but still, weird eh? (VIN: 286119) Anyway, my shifting has greatly improved. Once I got a fair sense of where the gears all were, I was home-free. When I test drove it, I never had to go beyond 3rd gear, but today I had to take it on the freeway to get it home, so I had a chance to cycle her all the way throug…

I have a question. I'm looking to buy a 74 260z with a auto tranny. I looked all over the internet and I can't find another auto 260z! Are they hard to find or what? All the 260z's I've seen on the internet are all manuals. Does the auto tranny add to the value of the car or not? DeeDee
