Well, for those of you who have been keeping track of stuff I've been posting, I'm sure you're well aware by now that I am very much in the market for a Z. Today I paid a visit to the car I may end up buying. I've probably mentioned it at least twice on these forums, but I'll recap for those of you who missed it. '76 280Z 83k miles Listing says that there are spots on the body that "need attention" Well, I went out to go see for myself what kind of shape this beast is in, and conducted an inspection to the best of my abilities. The rust damage is, in fact, quite minimal. The seller made it sound as though rust was practically consuming an entire portion of the car, b…

Well i am about 80% complete on my 1970z. I have been working on it for about four years and now gotten to a point that i have no time to finish it. All of the paint, body, glass and trim is done. The engine was completely rebuilt by Rebello Racing and is installed in the car. The carbs, headers, radiator, transmision clutch are all in the car. Basically i need someone that knows these cars to finish the car. Mostly what is needed is suspension and brakes, interior, electrical hookup, drive shaft, fuel lines and tank installed, and some other minor finish work. I have 95% of the parts needed and a garage to work out of. The person i am looking for should be avai…

Well it is with much regret that I'm looking at selling my car due to job-related issues. Here's the skinny: Car was completely rebuilt. Started in '93, finished in June of 2002. Every nut, bolt and speck of paint removed. Battery tray, passenger floor, right-side firewall, and right-side hatch deck replaced. Car was placed on a frame machine and straightened. Paint is an acrylic-urethane in stock Nissan Red. Original #'s engine rebuilt and color matched to car. Interior has new seat apholstery and new carpet. New weatherstripping throughout. Also has 280ZX 6-spoke rims with semi-polished centers (not a mirror finish). Car was Featured Z of the Month in May, 2…

Are any of you people using those family radios for communication? Either in the car or on foot? I just got a Motorola 6200 and it seems to work best between 50ft - 1/2 mile (in the neighborhood). Haven't had a chance to try it on the road. Had it on hand at the airshow last Sunday, but only to listen. I would like to get the new Motorola 7100 radio. Do you people have any favorites? Models to avoid? thx

I took my Z out for the first real run this afternoon. I bought the 72 240 I found here in the classifieds about 2 months ago. The car had been sitting since 93'. So far rebuilt the carbs (z-therapy kit) dropped the fuel tank cleaned, sealed and checked the system, battled a fierce electrical battle. Symptoms of a bad fusible link but turned out a bad ammeter will do the same thing. I have rebuilt the brakes all around. New shoes and cylinders in the back new oem rotors and toyota calipers in the front. The old slotted wheels were pretty coroded so I have been waiting on some BBS e-bay wheels. Wheels showed up with a 4 x 108 pattern. I have had some new Falken 205 60 14's…

well i went Z shopping today and my luck was great. Im sure just about everyone here knows about my former Z which turned out to be a rust bucket. Well anyways im searching through some local ads and i find a 1976 280z in a few towns over. So i call the guy and i go down there to check it out today. I looked it over and couldnt find much wrong with it besides the obvious floor pans. Its a total project car that the resto was started on but never finished, and damn was this thing clean. It had brand new OEM fenders (not even screwed on yet). So i take them off to get a good look at the shell and it seems solid as a rock except a little rot spot near the very front e…

I have heard from several of you trying to sell me an assist grip for the DRIVERS door. It doesn't have one! I now know that after advertising for one in classifieds. My BAD! I have owned 5 Z's over the years. It has been 25 years since I owned my '70. I bought this '71 in CA and drove it back to Oregon from California. After having it for a few days, started stripping it for restoration. It has been 8 months and I am finally putting it back together. I found only one 'assist grip' and thought I misplaced one. After checking the situation out, I discovered the 240 doesn't have one on the drivers door. Ouch! You caught me on this one. I will never make another mistake at l…

Hi, i recently bought a 1972 240z however the resto project turned out terrible... the car ended up being a rust bucket. I was searching local ads and found a 1976 Datsun 280zx coupe. Its a project car, and i was wondering if there is anything i should pay attention to other than the obvious rotted floor pans, and frame rails before i purchase it. Also i havent seen anyone with a 76 280zx only 81 and on. Is there such a thing? Im only familiar with 240's. If anyone has a couple pics of a 76 280zx i would like to see em aswell
