Allright well, today I went to look at '79 Datsun 280ZX I've had my eye on for a while, and first off I'm going to express my amazement with the car as a whole... I realize it's not like the highly discussed first generation or anything, but I can finally put a physical feeling behind all of the commotion made over these things. I always knew they were pretty, but I really hadn't any clue of how much fun they are to take for a spin, haha! Anyway, with that said, this post isn't all about good stuff. I've noticed some pretty serious defects with this car, and I want your guys' opinions on them, which includes how much I would expect to have these particular repairs done a…

Here are some pics of the water-cooled turbo sources.... I tee'd off the thermostat housing using a stock hole and put in a hose! As for the source I tee'd off the coolant fittings for the heater core inside the car, but it comes right before the water pump

Hi guys. I recently just bought a 1972 datsun 240z and started to restore it. I took most of it apart and I was going start from the ground up. As i got into it i realized i dont have the money or the time to spend on it, and i believe that this particular z deserves to be restored porperly. The car's unibody isnt in the greatest shape, but the rear end is solid as a rock, The Fenders are great ( right side off the car at the moment) with the exception of the bottom of the right front fender which needs repair. The quarter pannels seem solid, suspension is good ( front suspension is off the car). Before i took the car apart it ran, drove, and stopped( boy did this …

Looking for information from the Z cars racing glory days. I live in Indianapolis, and if my memory is clear, there was a Datsun dealer in Indianapolis by the name of "Jim Campbell Datsun", it no longer exists under that name. I think they sponsored a driver by the name of Logan Blackburn, a contemporary of Bob Sharp and John Mortn in the early Z car racing days. I would appreciate any information concerning logan Blackburn or Jim Campbell Datsun, or if anyone has any idea how to contact Logan Blackburn. Irecently re-purchased a Z that I had owned 20+ years ago, that was supposedly owned by Logan Blackburn. Any input would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks, John 1972 1973…

Like I said, dumb question. Did the 71 240Z have a windshield washer? The switch is there but no tank and no evidence of washer nozzles. I know that the lever could have been changed at any time and might not be original. Anyone know if they all had them or when the started? John

Hey guys, I need some help! Does anyone know of a good source for a rust-free (or pretty close) shell for an early Z. I have a '72, and I pretty much have aquired all good parts, and it turns out my frame is too rusted to be worth fixing. In fact, it even appears someone already did some metal work last time around. I live in Toronto, Canada and all the Z's up here are generally rotted from our winters and the road salt. I have been searching for a few months here, ebay, other sites, forums..etc. I have only found one or two rolling shells that dont need work. I know Texas, Arizona, and California are the promise land...but I'd like to find one closer if at all possible. …

I was thinkin a shop manual for sure, and maybe the "how to restore" book cuz everyone says it has good info. If you guys know a place to get these books at a better price or if there are any other must reads that arent on that list let me know. thanks

I finally got the title for my Series I HLS30-03486 Z car. The build date is 4/70 but the title has it as a 71. It was first registered in 71 - could that be why? What determines the title year? Maybe its an Arizona thing. thanks in advance....

Okay... so I'd like to know if this is true, because apparently there's a story behind the creation of the name Datsun... Well... does that sound right?

Hello everyone, My name is Reese and I live in Harrisburg PA. My father and I owna shop in town called Modified Motorsports and we mainly work on sport compacts and Honda Acura Nissan Swaps. I look in here from time to time because i have been searching for a z car for 2 years and found one earlier today! Great shape and great interior. I will post some pics later for everyone. Car was only 300 bucks. It is a 78 280z. I would really like to know where some of you are getting the replacement front bumper for the zcar. I am looking for the one that the silver car has on it from the road and track article that was posted up in here. It is smaller and closer to the c…
