I have searched for improved alternatives to the OEM starter on the forum and there seems to be no information on the subject. California Datsun advertises a starter: " LIGHT WEIGHT AND HELPS START YOUR ENGINE FASTER. NO MORE SLOW CRANK ON COLD DAYS WHERE IT ALMOST KILLS YOUR BATTERY, THIS IS YOUR ANSWER! NO CORE REQUIRED. NO MODIFICATIONS NEEDED THIS IS A DIRECT BOLT ON. PLEASE SEE OUR OTHER AUCTIONS FOR THE STARTERRELAY KIT THAT ADDS TRUE 12 VOLTS TO EXTEND YOUR STARTER LIFE! " It certainly looks much nicer than stock but is there any functional advantage over OEM? The starter relay they mention is an extra $15. Opinions from more experience…

I recently saw a Z with what I think was a “European Air Dam”. I am curious if anyone has experience running one? Does anyone other than whitehead offer a similar style.

Hey guys, long time between post. I would like to share some good news. I picked up my S30 for $500 dollars. It had the usual rust issues, battery area, passenger side floor board due to ruptured heater core and spare tire well. But other than that being a Texas car and being stored on gravel it is pretty solid. The biggest issue which would have been make or break was the Rad Support. The car look like it had incident with a curb. The front of the front drivers side frame rail was wrinkled along with the Rad Support on that side. Someone tried to straighten it in the past with little success. To make long story short i couldn't find a replacement in the junk yards or onlin…

Hello folks, New member to the site. I recently acquired a 1978 280z and will eventually want to do a full restomod on the car after I've driven it around for awhile. I don't have the expertise nor the time to devote hours to this project...I WISH I did, but family and work come first. Question for the members in tristate area. Which reputable shops would you recommend for me to talk to about getting this project lifted off the ground. Who do you guys trust your baby z too? Thanks for the input. - Jayzee

It’s starting to get hot out! ? dors anyone have recommendations on a high quality sun shield? I say high quality because they tend to fit better than the cheapo eBay one that I have in the car that’s starting to deteriorate. I saw that MSA has one https://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/classic08d09 a little on the pricy side, the rigidity of the panels seems nice. Pictures and Recommendations are welcome! ?

I've been looking for a project. I've been mostly looking at 4x4 old truck stuff. The other day a friend of mine asked me to help him move a 1984 veet that he just bought for $500. When we got there he mentioned there was a 240z there that the guy was also selling. I looked at the z took a few pictures and today the car is sitting in my garage. I had no idea my next project car was going to be a z car. I've always loved these cars. I was born in 1960, so the 1970 is just about the time I was starting to see and feel things. This car was one of my first loves. I've never drove one. This will be the first z I've ever driven. The man that owned it before me loved it. H…

Check those fuel lines. I am 100% sure everything was tight and leak free after installation. I started the engine up after a week long layoff and noticed a gassy smell, before leaving out on my drive I decided to check on it, pop the hood 6, that right 6 leaks, substantial leaks at the various fuel rail joints (1st gen fuel rail with lots of joints). In a couple minutes of idling prob dumped 3-4 oz of gas. tighten up the clamps (OE style not worm gear) and all good again. the only guess I have is the hoses compressed over time (new hoses all about 2-3 years old). Fuel Injection rated hose bought from auto zone. Made in China no doubt, wonder if I had cheap hose or i…

RE: early '77 280Z Ever seen that theatrical party skit where some sober soul (let's call him Mr.Fairface) is hypnootized for a lark, so that at the utterance of a "trigger" word, he is immediately transformed into Mr.Uglyface, a roaring drunk? Then, with the trigger word, Mr.Fairface is back, etc. This, gentle reader, is the apt illustration of my Z problem. Mr.Happyface is a happy, sweet running engine with a strong, clear idle, a sweet sensitivity to a gentle tip-in of the throttle, and a strong, sure pull from almost any rpm. A true baseline of operation that would do any mechanic proud. Mr.Uglyface is a cranky, ill mannered motor that refuses to i…

Does anyone know what the easiest way to change the air pump filter housing is on the 1972 Datsun 240Z?

Hey all, I'm looking to add an electric fuel pump to my 73 240Z and it never originally had one installed. I have been in contact with a few vendors but no results as of yet so if someone has a lead on one, let me know? BTW my car is a 4/73 build and the electric fuel pump wasn't dealer retrofitted either. Thanks!
