Never heard of a 280ZR before. Saw this magazine for sale on ebay with an article comparing the 280ZR to other cars.http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2241&item=6942979639&rd=1 Searched google and found a 280ZR model. I guess its a racing version of the 280Z.

I have located a 1972 240Z that has extensive rust. For what it is worth, the owner says the car ran fine before he pulled the engine/trans. The rust is so extensive that it is not worth putting back together. The red interior seems in good shape as well as the glass. (There are a few parts I would like, but do not have the room to disassemble the car.) Does anyone in the Dallas area have an interest in parting it out and selling the parts? Currently, the seller wants $900, and I have not discussed the real value of the 240Z in its current condition. Let me know. Keith

I took the valve cover off to 'polish' the outside, and I noticed that the inside had a coating of oil 'varnish.' Would there be an advantage to removing the varnish? What is the usual way to do that? (FYI) thx.

I live in Glendale Ca. and have charter as my cable provider that offers on demand which has a show called Magrack. They have a special on japanese sports cars that runs about 13 min long that goes into a brief but detailed video about the Toyota 2000gt and the 240z. For those who have it you should check it out. Just go to your on demand channel, then go to more on demand, then scroll down to Magrack. Once you open that section look for auto access click that and go to import tuners. I think its a great show and who ever has Charter should check it out. Thanks Saro fagerian

I am planning on purchasing a 1972 Datsun 240Z very soon (end of week)...and am wondering what you think about using it as a daily driver to and from work and school mostly. Is it fairly reliable, or what should I expect?

As I was out driving my Z today I figured it might be nice to have a little poll to find out how and when others drive theirs. I fall into the nice weekend afternoon category but occasionally drive it to work or to the local car club.

Could you get a copy of the build sheet from Nissan for your Zed? It would tell you what options were on it, like electrical or emmisions, which can help in diagnosing wiring-related problemes, or it could help you figure out what the 'wqhatchamacallit' you saw is. Or it might help if there is any disagreement, like with emmisions.

Don't know if any of you already know about this site (prob do, but oh well). It's www.expressautoparts.com . They have some good parts for early Z cars and really low prices. Just ordered 2 new u-joints, a Bosch spark plug wire set, and new brake pads all for 70 bucks and shipping is free on an order over 50 bucks. Just thought I would tell you guys looking for any parts. There is an alternative to MSA!! Dave

I was planning on doing an L28 ZX Turbo engine swap in my 260z but i've been having a rough time finding a donor car or even an engine. My plan was to find some rust bucket on e-bay or in a local junkyard and buy the entire car and salvage more than just the engine, wiring harness, trans, ect, but also the front brake (complete with calipers, master cylinder [will the stock 260z MC work with 280zx front brakes? I don't see why not, and a new MC wouldn't hurt ]) and go from there, but no local junkyards have any TURBO 280zx's. I have found 2 beaten 280zx NA's, one was about 900 bucks because it still ran and drove and prob would have passed emissions. The other was 350 bu…

I am looking at buying a complete set of Stainless Steel Replacement fastners for my Z restoration project. They are offered by Zcarcreations on ebay as individual sets: body, engine, interior etc... I have been in direct contact and they do offer a complete set for the car. Has anyone used their products? What are the pros and cons of using replacement fastners? JLP
