Well... Since I had some of the car taken apart to do minor maintenance I decided to R&R the wiper arm assembly. Upon taking out the bracket that holds the wiper motor to the body, the rubber bushings decided to disintegrate after 30+ years... imagine that!! Anyways much to my unfortunate surprise I've learned that MSA only stocks the pivot boot, and according to the parts guy I talked to the rubber bushings are no longer available or made, same goes for the rubber gasket that goes between the pivot arm base, and the body of the car Does anyone know, or have a relatively good substitution for these items??? Thanks

My 73 has the original AC system installed. The PO had recently charged the Freon and I did get some cold air, but not very much. While I like AC, I really don't need it for this car. I'm getting ready to switch engines, and so I need some advice on what to do with the Freon. Assuming I'm going to remove the compressor and not reinstall it, is it worth it to go to an AC specialist and have them remove the Freon vs. just letting it vent? BTW, I haven't run it (no belt on it right now) since last summer, so I don't know how much, if any, is present. Also, I know Freon is very expensive. If I take it in to be "captured", is there some way to save it so that if I wanted …

Hey guys, i had just finished fixing my fuel pump, so i took it off the stands and decided to fire her up. So i got my mom out and she watched cause she really wanted to see, i started it and it sputtered, sputtered and popped then after a couple tries i started! after 3 seasoned mechanics had tried i actually fixed it. But thats not the funny part, as i gave it some gas somthing came out of the tail pipe.....DOG FOOD!!?? yea, funny how the mice store there food everywhere.....it was a site, looking back and seeing dog food firing out the back. But i got it started, thats the important thing.

Hi everyone, Just started working on my newly acquired 72' 240Z, previous owner forgot to put oil and locked the motor. Has a nice setup (N42 head on a L28 block) so I figured, might as well rebuild it. Pulled the engine yesterday and found the 5th piston rod jammed along with the crankshaft. Gonna visit the boneyard this thursday and find some parts then i should be rolling on the weekend. :classic:

Hi Could someone please tell me what the distance between the lip of the tailgate and the slam panel is when fully open. I have a 1970 car but don't know if I have the correct tailgate stay, it does'nt open anyway near as much as the tailgate on the 1972 car I used to own, was there a difference between the very early cars and say cars from 1971 onwards. There does'nt look to have been any mods to my unit so assume it is possibly original (it's stuffed by the way so looking for a replacement or re gas if it can be done) Any advice much appreciated Lee

I have two oil caps one with the Japanese charaters surrounding the elephant, and one which says OIL in capital letters. Which is more desirable if at all and more rare. Thanks

I'm getting ready to cut out the rust and weld in new metal. This is my first restoration project and I am going to DIY no matter what. I could use some advice on a welder purchase keeping in mind I only have 100 amp service. The frame rails are in great shape so I only have to weld body panels and rockers. Thanks Jim M.

Anyone know of where I can get some weather stripping for my 280zx - 1983? The seals on the doors and the t-tops are so worn out. What has everyone else used? Also, have any good tips on doing this repair? Never done it myself. Cheers. Tim.

Okay here it goes... On my way to Savannah, GA the other day I damn near broke my neck when I caught a glimpse of a Blue long nosed car on the side of Highway 17 in someones yard. Yup it was a 240 and appeared to have a... no could it be? ... yes it had a G-nose and a fender mounted mirror. Well we picked up my mother in-law from the Sav. airport and I swung by real quick to try and get a better look. It looked pretty rough. Only had the drivers (left) side mirror and the nose (which was fiberglass ) was cracked. It also had no badges on it was equipped with the most ridiculously wide tires and rims with a set of $13.99 Wal-Mart hub caps. Do to the small and very de…
