Just curious to what drivability issues come along with a failing fuel pump? The mechanical fuel pumps have been around for a long time, and I know some leak oil. But what type of problems creep in with a bad fuel pump when driving? Thanks Bob

I own a few (OK more than a few) older muscle cars but always loved the Z - so I just bought a 1971 Z sight unseen and had it delivered this morning. Ya, not a good idea to buy a car without looking at it, especially an early Datsun but I took a chance. Other than leaking gas from the gas line it ran not bad - oh and the turn signal is totally pooched (already ordered a new one, as he told me about it). The one issue it does have is some minor perforations in one - possibly both rear frame rails of the car. Have most people just replaced the whole rail or can you pretty easily cut out the small section and replace the metal? Seems to be isolated in one area right tow…

It is time to delve into learning to weld and replace floor pans/frame rails on some of my 240Zs. I have a rotisserie that I picked up locally as part of a trade, and now is the time to look for a welder. I am looking at the Millermatic 211 as a possibility, and a one-year old one is for sale locally. I wanted to ask you guys with welding experience (especially if you have a Miller 211): is this a good machine to learn to weld on and can you 'grow' with it as you learn, or will you be looking for another machine down the road. I have a spare parts body to practice on before I touch a project car. Thanks!

Just wanted to document a recent 800 mile trip (central fl to central al) driving at night, mostly AC off about 27mpg, speeds were 55-75 with mostly 65-75. none alcohol gas. a little less than a Quart of oil (28 oz approx. over 1400 miles on the trip odometer set at the last oil change) so about 1500 miles per quart. Temps pretty much right at the E of the temp gauge, guessing this is 175f since that is what I use in the T stat, and it would get there and hold. It will get hotter (so T stat is no longer controlling the max temp) if I drive in the heat of the day with the AC on, then it will get just a little over the middle of the range. this is 95-98f with high humidity …

Been working hard to improve my photography skills so I shot my dad's orange Z this morning. These are my favorites. Shot with a Canon 6D.

I have been trying to remove my crank pulley on my 75 280 and at the point where I install a puller to remove the pulley (mine has two). I can not determine what the thread/pitch of the holes in the pulley. It seems like a 6 mm and starts to thread in both holes, but stops after a couple of threads. Does anyone know what this bolt size is ? Thanks in advance.....Ron BTW the major bolt in the photo has been removed.

Hey All! I have been considering buying a Z for a few years now and I think it's time for me to make my purchase. I have found a good looking Z in Oxnard, CA, and would like to get a PPI done before I make an offer. I live in NorCal, so I can't do it myself. Does anyone have any recommendations for shops in the Oxnard/Ventura/Thousand Oaks area that could do a PPI? Thanks!

My 1973 240z restoration is at a standstill. I am having a hard time dropping the big bucks on the braided hoses for the heater, radiator, power brake booster, etc. Are they really necessary for a car to be respected...? I can't seem to find the power brake booster hoses in smooth rubber like the heater and radiator ones. I found a smooth rubber reducer for left side of the engine so at least everything on that side would be smooth including the radiator hoses, if I went "cheap". I love the braided look, just amazed at the pricing...! Any comments or suggestions...?

Is anyone using the UNI Air Filters on their 240Z. If so, do they work? Are they easy to clean? Do they look good?
