I've been finishing off my last project car and I'm going to follow it up with a tuned 240Z of some sort. The thing is, I'm buying in from the U.K. (Ireland resident here) and I've yet to find a compromise of work vs. purchase price. I can buy a Zed for as low as €600 (~$800) or I can go as high as €15,000. Obviously the €15,000 examples are for pristine original cars with a perfect history, useless to me because I'll modify it, but for example the cars that are worth about €600.. the amount I'm going to have to spend on such a car to bring it up to standard would probably put it in the region of a reasonably restored and running Z. So, where's the middle ground? …

This past week, my 77 280z totally lost power when I try to start her. When I turn on the key, the starter does not engage, the voltage drops on the interior guage. I have a new battery, altenator is testing ok, and I have replaced the voltage regulator in the past 2 months, and everything has been fine. Tests I have done: I cleaned battery cable connections at battery as well as at the starter connection. Voltage tested these connections and get 12.45 volts. Also voltage tested each of the fusible link wires (which read 0.00 when I move the wire around, so I believe these are good.). Can someone please give me some advise as to what to test next. Want to get "Zena…

With Victors' 'experience' fresh in our minds and the fact that this year after an extensive rebuild I'll get MY 240 on the road, what can be done to protect (and deter to the best ability) the theft of our 240Zs ? I'm talking about when we're out on a run, not when the car is locked up at night, in it's machine gun nested garage with a dust cover and centrale heating ! Of course if someone suggests parking it in a minefield...

Not sure if this is the right forum? Where do you normally post photos? Anyway, it's a '75 280Z, 98K miles, one owner since 1980, always garage kept. I couldn't get a good photo before the sun went down, but I'll take some more when I can. This is about how I think it will look within 6 months (minus the wing):

On the B-J auction I saw some old cars with the license plates that have the same year as the car. How do those guys get those? Do they use those old plates for the road? Might be a cool idea. Something the ricers don't have (yet?)
