Another Vintage Z up for grabs on BAT. Certainly stirring up lots of interest, wonder if it will hit $100k+ like the last one. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1972-datsun-240z-127/

Does anyone have any experience with the reproduction fuel senders sold by MSA ($200) and Zcardepot ($80) for the '77-'78? The only difference I can see in their descriptions (other than a huge price difference) is that the Zcardepot unit has an OEM-like electrical connector whereas the MSA one needs you to splice in their particular connectors. Has anyone used either sender? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Hello, my name is cooper, I’m 18 and this is my ‘74 260z I recently bought. I've wanted a 240Z for a few years now, but when I saw an ad on Craigslist for a 260z being parted out that was a complete A/C car that had been in a garage for 25 years, I thought that was just absurd and made a deal to buy the whole car. This is my first Z but not my first project car so I at least think I kind of know what I’m doing a bit. I have a basic idea if nothing els. The pictures show the current state of the car, just a bit different from how I picked it up. I’ve cleaned it a bit in an attempt to get the smell of rat pee out, I’ve removed the carpet and th…

Hello again. I’m new to Z cars and trying to learn about how they work. I’ve done some Research and come to the conclusion that I probably adjusted the drums incorrectly when I replaced all the parts. I’ve been reading about how when properly adjusted the drums shouldn’t turn much at all? This contradicts how I’ve been adjusting drums on other cars so could someone explain why this is how it’s done? The new wheel cylinders I installed did not actuate the star wheel to adjust the brakes when I got them so I played around with them and got them to adjust the brakes by pulling the parking brake, but was worried that they’d adjust out so far that the drum …

Looking for shops to do a restore. I'm considering a complete restore of my 1970 240z series one. I'm in the Sacramento area. If I was to say in California, that would be 500 miles south and 300 miles north, so I'll consider CA or any place within 500 miles.

Has anyone done an oil filter relocation on an S30? If so do you have pix and the relocation kit you used? I thought that there was a kit for the Z though I was not having much luck finding it nor pictures of people who had done this to see where the filter's new location was.

CCE2C72B-475C-4226-9496-9294F712044D.heicI have owned my 1970 240Z since 1984. I am looking to do a restoration in the near future even though the car runs great. It does not have any rust or body damage although it does have nearly 170k miles on it. Depending on information I receive, in part from this forum, I will be guided on how far to go with it financially. Meaning, do I go all out and get all original parts or get aftermarket. The serial number is: HLS30-02846 with a manufacture month/year: 04/70. A unique feature I have with this car, which I haven't seen on other 70's is, there is no vent/insignia behind the wing widows. Any information would be…

Hi Guys, so i have been working with my mechanic on my 77 280z, it is automatic. The N47 head was cracked so we found a new rebuilt head and engine giving good compression as well. The CAM was old and had plenty of wear so decided to put a new CAM. New spark plugs off course. Gap set to factory. The problem coming in setting the timing. My mechanic is very skilled but obviously he has not worked on 280z before. He says everything fires up nicely but we are not able to set the timing. He says the distributor had to be fully advanced to set the timing. But it should not be this way. It has to align with first cylinder/stroke etc. But when you do that timing is a b…

Gents, So I thought I’d start a new thread on this since I’m now on the reassembly phase. I’ve had a few issues with the crank install albeit all self-induced. I’ve posted a video on the crankshaft install and my concerns and questions. Concerns: -How much free spin force is normal? -The shop has the caps in 180 out but in right location when I got the engine block back. -Did I damage a bearing when we accidentally torqued caps to 58 ft lbs? -Book says torque to 33-40 ft lbs, I set 36lbs. -Thrust bearing clearance, could not determine. Video capture all these concerns Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A question for the guru's out there.. I have found an early type Fan, that I want to put on my Z. I've read on some online shops for Z parts that the early steel fans, also had different clutches , is this so ? Also I saw that my fan blade is missing some metal on one blade, should i have this balanced or just weld it up, smooth it out and it will be balanced enough ? Bart

Hi everyone, Decided to post my current build . I started this project back in July of 2017, my initial expectation was to build a nice somewhat daily driver and possibly do a few track days. This is my first attempt to restoring a vehicle, prior to this I've never attempted anything remotely as complex as this. As always what I thought would be a simple project ended up being a much bigger task. I started with a $200 flux core welder and ended up borrowing @grannyknot Miller welder, that alone made a massive difference and cannot thank him enough for all the help and guidance through out this build. Details of what came with the vehicle when purchased. -L2…
