I had a problem with my temp/oil pressure gauges. Both would go to normal position then in exact time both would drift down then back up.I had fought that demon before on my fuel gauge a while back and knew it was the tiny tiny little contact in the gauge.Glove box out, clock out, I could reach in and remove the yoke screw. With my hand relaxed like a yoga master I gently slipped it into the temp/oil hole in the dash and undid the wires. There is plenty of room in the back of the dash to slide the gauge to the glove box.I'm 6'3" 200lbs. and have large hands so don't think I have small japanese hands.I disassembled the gauge cleaned the contact with a burnishing tool(ultra fin…

Well I was trying to find a leak (from inside engine compartment to passenger pan), while i was looking I found a pen sized rust hole behind my battery near the wheel well. I know people who can weld (cheaply) but I am notsure how to proceed. One of the first things I would like to do is pull the engine (for working room and might as well rust proof and paint it now), i am a newbie when it comes to mechanics, are there detailed instructions anywhere that I can follow to pull an engine? Once that is done any suggestions to attack my damage? I am bummed!! The rest of the battery tray looks fine. Suggestions?????? Thanks, Zlish:tapemouth :tapemouth :tapemouth

I have a quick question. How many gallons (U.S.) will my 73 240 hold? And what kind of gas mileage is common? I'm getting about 20 mpg.

Well, I got my "new" '72 240z home just now. Whew, what a mess! The wheels were locked up and we had to drag it across a field with a tractor until the wheels finally broke loose enough to at least roll. Then, we used a come-along to drag it up onto the flatbed. When I looked at this car the first time, the owner, Bob, (who has to be in his 70s), said it had been sitting for "about 10 years" in a field behind his farm house. As we're messing with it I noticed a safety inspection sticker in the window. 1984! You can't drive a car in Oklahoma without a current inspection sticker. I asked Bob if it had been sitting since then, and he said "yea, that sounds about right." Turn…

I just found a '72 240z that has minimal rust for only $400. It doesn't run, bu everything's there. Looks pretty original throughout. The ONLY rust I could find is on the leading edge of the left rear quarter panel (that spot in front of the rear tire) and under the rear hatch at the back. Solid everywhere else, including the floors, under the battery tray and where the front frame rails meet the firewall. The owner said he parked it when the fuel pump went out 10 years ago! It's been sitting ever since, so it will be a major project. Now the question is do I restore it to original, fix it up with later model Z stuff or hybridize with non Z stuff? I want to end up with …

spring sets

Anyone have experience or know the differences between the Eibach pro-kit springs, the suspension techniques springs and the tokico spring sets. I'm looking at the springs which lower the vehicle 1" on all of these sets. Obviously price is a consideration but is there a huge difference between the three sets? I'm assuming it has to do with ratings.

When I get up to about 70 mph on the highway my trunk pops open!! I don't mean to say that the whole thing actually opens but instead that the latch becomes unlatched. It even happens when I lock it! I've tried pulling it up when not moving but it doesn't budge. What's going on? Quick fix?

Found an interesting 240 but it has a salvage title. Current owner says he bought it this way and the previous owner said "theft" recovery". What do you all think? It's about $1k and runs but needs a little work. Looks ok though.
