Have you guys noticed that there are now new fuel sending units for 77-78’s available at Zcardepot? I had been looking for one for sometime when I bought my car and they were no place to be found, even used. Has anyone bought one of these. I had considered having my refurbished awhile back but is was about $200 to do that so I decided I could spend that money better elsewhere. This looks like a good but if they’re any good. https://zcardepot.com/products/copy-of-fuel-tank-gauge-sending-unit-sender-240z-260z-280z-70-78?variant=31387184595057¤cy=USD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI19TayNe96A…

As far as I can tell, this is a new record for the sale of an early-series Datsun 240z. This series one car more than doubled the selling price compared to other cars that we have seen sold on an auction site called Bring A Trailer. The final bidder placed a whopping $310,000 US dollars on the table and walks away with a very nice example of this classic Z. The seller is no-doubt a very happy person and BAT pulls in their max commission of $5,000 (plus listing fees) to help sell this record-breaking car. Not a bad way to buy a car while standing in line at the grocery store or waiting for your plane to taxi down the runway. This Z is a very nice example of an…

I'm interested to hear from owners of late 240Z series I cars (above 19,000). I have a late Series I car that has some components consistent with earlier cars, but some components that are from later cars. My car is a clean, pretty original1971, with a build date of 1/71. The car has the correct series I steering wheel, c-pillar badges, vertical heating elements in the hatch glass, etc. There are, however a few things that seem odd and inconsistent with the earlier cars. Though the car has the correct hatch glass, it does not have the vents below. The valve cover is not the 2400 version but rather the OHC version, and the air cleaner has the heat riser and the flapper. Ce…

Hey Everyone, The refurbishment of my 1971 Z has been coming along. I got the engine compartment detailed and its running well. I thought I was done working on it for a while. There has always been a ticking sound in the top end. I was re checking the adjustment on the valves and I think I found it. There is a chunk out of a valve lobe. There is a little scoring on the rest of the lobe but nothing crazy. It seems like it should be replaced right? I would like to use this opportunity to upgrade to a cam with internal oiling and block off the oil rail. I would like to keep the cam stock if possible. I can only find performance cams. It looks like I should cha…

So both of my door pin switches are dead. The geniuses who did the rust repair and repaint just left them in place and painted over them, and the plungers are crushed in besides... Apparently these are different between left (3-wire) and right (2-wire) sides. And the 3-wire ones seem to be NLA. Question: Is it possible to use the same switch (2-wire) on both sides? I understand this will cause issues with the seatbelt buzzer (the reason for the 3rd wire), but fastening my seatbelt is something I do instinctively anyway, so I have no qualms about disabling it if I need to. Thanks as always for any and all help. You guys are great.

A few days ago a car-buddy of mine asked me if i knew anything about Plastic valve covers and sent me a link. I had a look and had to admit i've never seen it before. Information was hard to find (but maybe i was looking for the wrong terms)? There are currently a few for sale but i wasn't able to find it in any of the Options catalogues, or in an FIA Homologation or something. Does anybody know anything about these and how "rare" they are? Which cars /years where they installed in? Some sellers state that it is a "final" racing version which is sealing better compared to the standard metal items? Not sure about that statement though. Another seller says it…

Hello, I have 240z with 3 speed automatic transmission and I cannot get it into the second gear, it skips the second gear and when it reaches speed for the third gear engages the third gear ! I decided to buy the overhaul kit and replaced all clutches and everything but still the same problem persists ! Maybe the problem could be with shift solenoid, there is one electrical solenoid and next to it is the vacuum one. If I get vacuum off it it loses the third gear and there is no electricity on the electrical solenoid when I measure it ! Should there be 12 volts on it when I start the engine Has anybody had issues with the second gear not engagi…

I was driving back from Portland on Friday and saw this on the side of the road. I circled back to at least check it out. Glad I did.... Do you see why??? It was HLS30-00903 disguised as HLS30-138310
