Hey Everyone, I almost went for a test ride today, but the clutch will not engage. There is way too much play between the throw out bearing and the pressure plate springs. With the slave cylinder hooked up the clutch isn't engaging at all. Here are a few pictures of what it looks like. When the clutch fork is engaged and the bearing is all the way forward, the bearing extends to where the splines start on the shaft. When the fork is disengaged there is a lot of shaft showing. I checked my invoice from MSA and they sent a 70-74 clutch kit. The springs on the pressure plate look different but measure the same height if they are laying on the work bench. Pic 1 is the fo…

Hey Guys and Gals...I'm posting pics of my 78 280Z for evaluation as the PO did a to of modifications to this car that I have no specifics about. I am thinking of selling this vehicle and would like to know if you see obvious problems. Car seem mostly rust free, lot of suspension work done(?), is now running and runs pretty well except for a slightly high idol, gas tank cleaned, new fuel pump, injectors, lines, plugs, new tires, valves adjusted, new belts, hoses, brakes as new , coolant flush etc. If you want specific pics let me know. Interior is original and needs, carpet, rubber, seats covers, and dash is cracked... Would be very interested in yo…

I'm trying to determine the correct hatch glass for my 72 240z. A lot of info I am seeing indicates that the vertical defroster lines were only in 70/71 model years but further research leads me to believe the change happened in the middle of the 72 production at 1/72 production date. I think the parts book supports this. Mine is 10/71 production date an I think it should have vertical. Does this sound correct?

Hi Guys, Ordered a used copy of the Haynes manual (ISBN 0856962066) but while it says it covers the 280z, the only 280z/L28 content is appended at the end in a ~30 page supplemental chapter. Does anyone have a new copy of the book and know if there is more detail om the 280z and/or better integration of 280z content?

while I have been looking over what seems to be some non OE wiring around the dizzy term block I came across this pic in the FSM. I see the lead coming from under the AFM a single wire that looks like a locking spade connector. I think the PO replace this with a ground wire (has eyelets one side bolts to the bottom of the AFM the other side to the chassis ground thru a mounting bolt that secures the AFM mount to the chassis). Can someone confirm this is what this wire does? I could not find anything from the wire harness that looks like the pic at the top of the page. AFM lead.pdf

Factory Horns 1 2

Hi, I am in the process of restoring a 6/70 car. I am curious if anyone remembers what color the factory horns were. The car was factory white but it was rattle canned white later in life. That is why the overspray in the first pic. It looks to me as if it was painted black at the same time as the radiator support. But when I tore it apart, the insides looked like an olive color zinc plating of some kind. See the second photo at about the 4 o'clock position behind the gasket. Any ideas? Thanks

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to the forums and have been looking around for the past year or so to get into the Z car community by finding a good project car. I found this one on consignment at a dealer about an hour and a half away from me and took a trip over to take some pictures and document it as well as possible. Unfortunately, the dealer didn't have time to get it on the lift to get good pictures of the underbody. The car has around 56k miles on what should be the original engine and transmission, but the dealer is also including a free 5-speed with the car. The owner is asking $14k for it, which I believe to be clearly over what it's worth. Before I go back more se…
