Customer who bought my L24 brought me his car to install the engine. It had a horrible knock but ran. He left the other day a happy guy with his new power plant . I was able to tear his motor down to show him some of the issues before he left . He had bought the car and it basically blew up in him 2 days after he got it. The seller didn’t take any responsibility for any engine issues. He had just put it together and knew it was good. Pictures tell a thousand lies. I didn’t get a picture of number 5 rod journal that had spun its bearing

All the amazing restorations on this site gave me the bug to make mine "like new" again. The various posts have given me a lot of good information but I still have several questions- most are probably rookie/stupid questions! I have the car down to the shell and I'm getting things prepped to go to the body shop for some rust work and new 918 orange paint. My question of the day is about the various rubber coated wire hold downs. Do these just get painted and then bent around the harness post paint? Will this cause the paint to crack? When they media blast the car will the rubber tab covers get destroyed? Thanks!

AJapanese Army Air Force Nakajima Ki-44 Shoki "Tojo" interceptor found by U.S. forces at Oppama airfield in Japan in the immediate aftermath of the war. This one was apparently test flown by the U.S., hence the American markings on it.

Good morning everyone, I am picking up a 1977 280z in Southern California and driving it back to Sacramento. The Z has less than 30k miles, new tires, pass smog, new fuel pump, and tune up within the past 6 months. I am planning on rental a car and driving down with my fiance. Then we will be dropping off the rental in SoCal and driving the Z back up. Is there anything you recommend we bring with us? What do you suggest we do maintenance wise once we get back home? Thank you!

Chasing some fuel gremlins in my stock 72. Would like to put a fuel pressure gauge on the car. Looking for ideas from folks with cars that have one installed and are running mechanical fuel pump only. Thanks! Jay

Anybody here might have a good set laying around willing to sell? By that I mean with no " play " in the pivot points of the hinges.. Since my car was hit in the front a few years ago, and after the damage repair by the body shop, the hood was still to high up in the front, and the shop couldn't repair it they said.. I went looking for the problem last week, and found when I push the hood down with my hand, there is alot of play in the hinge, so I guess that when my car was hit, the bonnet was pushed up a little and this stretched the hinges out... ( before the hit the hood was aligning fine.. Bart

Goofing off today I took some measurements on my 280 with the aluminum fuel rail. It goes up and down 20 degrees every few seconds. I guess that's when the excess dumps after the fpr opens up? Anyway the car was 80 degrees cold in my garage before starting. The higher numbers are of course after a quick romp. Fuel rail room temp... Hot closer to the return hose... Front of head... Rear... #3 header runner... Head at room temp... Oh yeah (don't tell my Mom) but here's my next purchase. @JLPurcell didn't you buy something similar to this? Thanks for any advice. Cliff

Not sure where to put this so here it is: https://www.haltech.com/product-overview-elite-vms-and-vms-t/ Now you can get a Haltech system for a carb'd engine setup without paying for all the Fuel Injection features you don't need.

So for some reason I have not had a lot of luck with the rebuilt aftermarket starters that are available through most of the normal outlets. I have gone through numerous ones, both the original style as well as the gear reduction style, and for some reason they just don't seem to last. The most recent episode of this was while I was visiting my brothers in the Chicago area. I had hauled my Z up to my brother's home outside of Chicago and over the course of the week, we attended numerous shows and cruise ins in the area. Was a real blast until the last day, when the starter appeared to have failed. Removed it and took it to a local O'Reilly's to have it checked (my br…

Hey, I found a set of louvers for my 1977 280z. I haven’t paid for them yet but they don’t come with the hardware. They are original Interpart Louvers. He’s asking $100. They look to be in good shape. Probably need to be repainted. The question is about the hardware. The key and mounting components are missing. Am I going to have a hard time finding this stuff? Does anyone have any or know where to get them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
