Wondering if any of the historians out there can tell me when the 2-piece oil pan stiffeners started (and were discontinued?) being installed on S30 engine types (240/260/280). Thanks.

Hey guys, New to the forum and searching to find my first Z project car. Trying to keep budget to around ~10k if possible, with a bit of wiggle room. Ran across: https://www.vintagecarcollector.com/vehicles/996/1975-datsun-280z but im not sure if its a good deal or not. Would love some insight as to what you guys look for in a Z before purchase. Many thanks!

Hi all, just wanted to post some status of my trip to Japan. I was able to meet @kats and we took a drive in his Fairlady Z432. Man what a great car! It’s in great shape and Kats knows how to take car of his cars. We met in Kyoto as I arrived, with my family, to our hotel. Kats lives about 30 minutes away from Kyoto and drove the car up just to visit with me. He has 4 Z’s and asked me which one I wanted to see (and drive). Since I’ve never seen a Z432, it was an obvious choice. We spent about 20-30 minutes ogling the car before he let me drive it around the block. I don’t have an international drivers license, so he took the controls and we went for an extend…

Hey guys, I have owned my 1971 240Z for around 12 months now, but this week I have finally been able to start work on it. I have been going hard on my other project, a 1973 Porsche 911 RSR inspired build, but I am waiting for custom engine parts, so I can finally start my Z project. I bought the car as someones failed project, so it was completely stripped. Everything is there though, and it is an amazingly clean, rust free shell, so it should make for a great project. This week I first needed to replace the front wheel bearings on the 911 so I could put wheels on it and move it out of the way. I then got into doing a stocktake on my Z to see what it needed…

Hi guys. I'm in the reassembly stages of a '72 240Z restoration. My dad bought the car new in 1972 and it's been in the family ever since. I disassembled it and kept the engine, trans, dash, wiring harnesses and a host of trim pieces with me here in Chattanooga, while he took the rest to back to where he lives in central NC and had the body restored, floor pans fixed, rust patched up, etc. See attached pics. In a few weeks, he's going to bring the car back to me so I can reassemble. All the fasteners and smaller parts are bagged and labeled and I took notes during disassembly, but it would be wonderful to have another 240Z to compare to make sure I get the hose …

Can someone tell me what is the correct emissions under-hood decal for a Z registered as a '71 and a manufacture date of 8/70? Is it the silver/white as for the 1970 model (https://www.zzxdatsun.com/catDecals.php) or a gold-tone one with a '71 date mentioned? There is no emission equipment on this car. It does not have the "new" air cleaner box. Were these applied at manufacturing or in the U.S.? Where did the sticker change? Any insights are appreciated.

Not mine, but it could be a good deal for someone. https://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/edmonton/1972-datsun-240z/1456835072?utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=social&utm_source=ios_social

I just realized that the 280Z has a deeper front cowl and more curved lower valance, meaning that stock air dams for the 240Z do not fit! What I am looking for is a spook type look for the 280Z. Not interested in the urethane wraparound style that replace the lower valances. Any ideas from the armchair experts? My front end: The issue with the 240Z style:

I am trying to figure out a fair market price for my interior tail light panel that is from my 1/70 240z, #806 VIN car. I have it laying around and don't need it. 1 crack at the mounting tab otherwise it is in good condition. I have it listed in the link below with photos. Any help is appreciated. I currently have it listed for 200 but I am thinking that I have under priced it. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1335561146626439/

I noticed this steering wheel on a petrolicious video featuring a Datsun 240z and was wondering if someone could help me with identify if the steering wheel was a Nardi Competition or a Nardi Deep Corn or something else? Also, with these steering wheels, what kind of hub/adapter do you need for it to work on the Datsun 240z/280z?
