I'm starting a discussion about the Z Restoration Program. Far too often, I see the program described as "Factory", have been guilty of using the F word myself, and objections have been justly raised in the past about the misleading term. I hope to gather accurate information about the restoration program in a comprehensive thread. Please refer back to the thread "wow-just listed". http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15893&page=1&pp=15 where this thread idea started. I want to assemble a comprehensive discussion of the subject. There are many aspects about this program that apply, such as the financial health of Nissan in 1996 and the discon…

So many Z's, of all numerologies, have popped up that I thought it might be good to collect them here. Feel free to add old or new stuff. There's a bunch out there right now, for some reason. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1975-datsun-280z-26/ https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-datsun-280z-38/ https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64614-1270-on-ebay-barn-find/ https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/62501-brand-new-280z/ https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64653-1970-nissan-fairlady-z-hs30-03647-on-craigslist/ https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/64539-31k-miles-series-i-240z-up-for-auction-on-bat-over-100k-on-first-…

I’m starting this restoration thread for enthusiasts of the early S30 Works rally cars, so they can follow along, and perhaps also provide comments and their own insights as to the very early days of the S30 Works rally program. I additionally hope that others can chime in with comments, questions, corrections, and feedback as we go along. A preamble: this is a thread about researching, documenting and restoring a genuine 1970 Works Rally car. I’ve owned it for many years, but the realities of real life were getting in the way of getting started on a proper restoration. Given the car's provenance, I knew it would be important to get the history and the details as…

Does anyone know what these letters and numbers ink stamped onto the vacuum advance mean? I see a lot of different combinations on the parts I have seen for sale. A lot of times, there is not vehicle specific applications listed. Are these just date codes? I'd like to replace the original vacuum advance on my Euro 240z distributor, but I won't have much luck looking for that part by application. I bought a new vacuum advance that "looks correct"; however, when I hook up the vacuum line to it with the engine operating, the engines revs and dies repeatedly. I am running a Pertronix ignition pickup, which may matter. And I plan to do some testing …

I spotted this on one of my FB groups (S30 Life), looks to possibly be a great product for all S30's. Interesting wording on the product description: an exact fit for '69-72 models to 06/72, then a very good fit for all later models. Anything coming out of the folks at S30 World is usually spot on. https://s30.world/product/datsun-240z-nissan-fairlady-z-set-of-door-rubbers-door-weather-strips-for-lr-side?fbclid=IwY2xjawFn5BlleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHaFz08OpowthIb4moKiiPnBPNcmmq4RaSxakN8zokI1Jhbkwj32GjHmYIg_aem_XFFA0aZ0MJ1qJZtj6rG2cA

I am looking for the little screw that holds the choke handle onto the lever for a 73 Z. It's an M3 screw but all the ones I can find have screw-heads too big to fit into the inset. Any ideas?

Hey fellow Z heads. It's been a long time since I logged in here much less made any posts. I thought I would check in to see who is still here from the old crew of 10+ years, actually it's been almost 20 since I first posted on this site come to think of it......and say hello to those who are new since I was last active here. SInce then I've gotten married, have 2 grandchildren, moved from Santa Cruz, CA to Auburn, CA and switched companies and focus. I haven't lost the bug but life, family and career had to take priority for a while, however I'm planning to dedicate more time to the hobby and hope to start reassembling the Z and get it back on the road in the coming mo…

Hello all, I am going to document my build. Basically I have a garage kept series 1 240z. That hasn't driven since 1986, it needed brakes which she couldn't afford so it has sat since. It was resprayed in the 80s as well. Some bad overspray but overall it's a very rust free car. I actually found it in my neighbors garage. My goal is to drive it and enjoy it, but it needs some TLC. First and foremost I got it running, and that is when I made the decision to keep it and I have fallen in love. I will keep it mostly original, minus some brakes upgrades, wheels and BC coilovers. Maybe someday have a built motor for it, but not for now. Every…

Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out a good method or replacement part for the rubber seal inside of the license plate assembly on my early 240z. I recently opened the assembly to replace a bulb and noticed that the rubber seal/gasket (seemingly for waterproofing) was deteriorating and falling apart. I'm wondering what you'd recommend to replace the rubber gasket and if there are any aftermarket parts available. I'm assuming Nissan doesn't have this available anymore. Any tips or information would be much appreciated! Thanks so much.

Hi, I've been asked to recreate the 240z front signal casing and wanted to know where the weak points are from the community and any tweaks that would be desirable to make it better. Any suggestions? It would be good if someone has a picture of the 2nd light hole in the back so I can design that in.
