It all started in early Spring of 1977. I was 23 years old, married (still married to the same lady), and had a big pile of $ from working a ton of overtime. I was driving a 1974 Nova and dreamed of having a two seater sportscar. After researching what to buy I settled on either a Fiat X-19 or Datsun 280Z. I started by going to the local Fiat Dealership, but after trying to sit in the X-19 (I'm 6 4 220#) I knew that was not the car for me. Next I went to the local Datsun Dealer to check out the Z. I walked in the showroom and spotting a 280Z, I opened the door and jumped behind the wheel. In less than a minute my life was changed forever ... I became a Z-aholic ... …

Hey guys (& gals), just reporting in to say hi. I've got several Z's at the moment ranging from a 72 up to 83. My 81 is the only one running right now, the others are projects and parts cars:classic:. I'll post some pics up later. Cheers, Ed

Howdy fellow Z owners ! Just purchased a 1978 280z Black Pearl. Picked it up in Kansas City and drove it back to St Louis. The engine is solid and the body is in good (but not perfect) condition. I cant wait till it's warmer here and I can get to work making improvements. I'm sure I will need all of your knowledge and assistance in the future and thank those who do respond in advance. Hi everyone. I just joined this group after having been away from all Z groups for a long time. It's nice to see all the intelligent chatter here. Just completed my three year project, a 1971 SCCA ITS/Vintage race car. On its first race at Laguna Seca in October, it scored a win and then two P2s the next day. The fastest lap it recorded was 1:43.9 which is two seconds under my old best time. Not bad for a 37 year old car. Stop by and see some of the pics of its construction that I've posted with my profile. Hope to talk to some of you soon. Coop

Hi folks, I just bought my wife a 1972 240Z on ebay. We'll be racing it at the Spring Mountain Raceway in Pahrump,NV. We will also be autocrossing it with the Las Vegas SCCA club. The car was used as a student trainer at the Thunderhill Racetrack in Ca. it already has the fuel tank, rollcage, fire systen etc. I do have a question for you other SCCA guys, what class will I be in? I'm thinking SM2 but I'm not sure. Oh by the way my wife Sue is the driver, I'm the pit crew guy!

I currently own a 1995 civic hatchback, but i'm trying to get back into the Z community. I've owned a 76 280z, three 280zx's one of them being turbo, and an 85 300zxT. I love the entire line of z-cars. I live in oklahoma where there is a lack of Z interest. I want to find a 240z-280z to buy, but i am a poor college kid, trying to make it on my own. I am really looking to trade my civic for a Z. . . . . . Pausing for laughter. . . . I know it seems impossible, but i figure someone out there wants a super reliable daily driver thats gets 30+ mpg. So i figured i'd put the word out and maybe i'll get a bite. I look forward to one day becoming a proud Z car fanatic again. Th…

I dug up this article I wrote for an online forum that was going down hill with wanna be magazine racers and a new wave of immature types...hope it merits a read. I have always been a gear head. I can remember loving to have hot wheels with me wherever I went. I use to read every article on every car in every magazine I could get my eyes on as if my very being was defined by my encyclopedic knowledge of cars. The sickness began the first time I let out a clutch and felt the inertia of a flywheel propel me forward in what seemed like a rush of unabated joy and excitement. That feeling is still rooted deep in my being. As all things evolve, my knowledge of automobiles grew…

Hi, I have an 80-280zx, coupe, T-top. I am looking for lower door seals.(weather stripping) Does anybody know where I can locate them? I also need a rear hatch seal. The one on the outside of the hatch, under the crome piece. You can contact me at arizzgirl@cox.net I would really appreciate any and all help. I had someone paint my car and not only did he have my car for two weeks under a yr. but he tore off weather stripping that was not suppose to come off, along with breaking some interior parts. I can only mark this up to a very bad experience and move on. The problem is, my car is sitting in my garage because the doors rattle so bad and I do not want moi…

Greetings folks, Honestly, I'm just dropping in to gain a bit of information on specific 240z parts. I love your little cars, make no mistake, but I'm a Subie junkie at heart. Just dropping in to (hopefully) get some info/measurements on a project I'm working on, to help cross-reference some parts. I run my own Subaru forum/club in the SLC area, so it's common courtesy that I'm taking the time to introduce myself.
