Funny story, I was removing a lot of the stuff on the exterior of my car to get it ready for a paint job and while removing the rear bumper I noticed there was a Hide-a-Key stuck on the inside. Much to my delight I opened it up to reveal one of the original keys.

My first post is a plea for help. I found a 1970 (or 1971) 240Z in a barn. Can someone tell me what digit in the serial number tells me if the car is a 1970 or 1971? Anyone have a good link to specifications on the 1970 car? (I searched but couldn't find a pure spec thread). Thanks, Doc (former owner of a 260Z, 280Z, and a 280ZX).

Hi, I've just started my search for a Z, and I found this site in the process. I'm interested in the first gen Zs (I think that is what the '70-78 ones are called). I'm still wading through all of the info on these cars. -Ross

Hello Everyone! Wondering if my car is to new for this site? I purchased the car in October of 83. Restored it 6 years ago, and looking to do some more. Or should I be on some other site with 25 year old car??

hello my name is patrick i started with my first z in 1993 i bought a 1974 260z 1st half yr fell in love with the z and have been stuck on them since. i bought a second one shortly after it was a 78 280z i had it for a few yrs then had a accident and it went to the z grave yard. i continued driving my 260 until 2002 when it was killed in a accident . so i kept it as a parts car and bought a 72 240z without motor to transfer parts from 260 into. 2 yrs ago i bought a 77 280z 2x2 complete car not running going to get it going sometime in near future i have a few pics. the blue z with me leaning on it is my 74 260z that's now a parts car the silver z is my 72 240z and t…

Well, I've had my early 260 since 1977, bought it when I was in high school. Combined, it's probably sat in peoples driveways and garages for half it's life. Seems that about every 15 years I torch the black widows (literally) and give the car a complete renovation. This week, I'm bringing my "old friend" home from the shop where it's been living for the last 6 months while i redo it. :classic: I attached a couple of "during" and "current" photos for ya. I'm sure it's no where near as nice as most of the cars that belong to the members here. But, I'm pretty happy with the way it's coming out.

New to this forum and am really hoping to get a better welcome than another forum I was a part of. :nervous: I have had my z for over a year now and it is my daily driver. I am slowly fixing her up as I go along. It's a bit cold up here in the north since my heater doesn't work You can rest assured that that will be my very next post :squareeye

Hello all, I am the new proud owner of a '74 260z. The previous owner did most of the work. The first thing I plan on doing for her are a front brake upgrade. I have had bad experience with brakes so I will upgrade them. Plus they look better with a bigger caliper and slotted rotors. Attached are some pics of her sitting in my driveway. I don't want to get too crazy with the brakes. The toyota calipers with stock rotors will suffice. Any suggestions as to where to buy a "kit" of some sort? Also any clubs in the NY NJ area. I live in NJ and frequently go to NY. Thanks guys --Axel

Just picked up an old friend's 240z. He was the second owner, got it back in 84 when we were in high school. We both have fond memories of driving that car so I couldn't see it going anywhere but to me when he finally decided it needed some attention. It's been sitting for the past 15 years covered in a shed so I have some work ahead of me.
