Just got a 280Z 1 2

I just got a 1978 280Z last Friday, after a fairly quick search for a good one. I fell in love with the body style and overall character of the Z when my friend (who pointed me here) was looking at them. I couldn't get the same kind of car as her, especially since we both wanted a "unique" car. Something that looks good, has personality, and you don't see everyday. Well, she somehow landed a Porsche a few months ago, and I jumped on the Z. My Z is in pretty good shape, besides needing a new paint job. It has a oddity of having a fuel-injected engine from a '76 280, as the original car had a carburated engine. Started doing minor repairs and cosmetic fixes the day aft…

I'm about to get my hands on a 240 rolling body. Now, as a hot rodder the first thought is v8 (Dad is building a 1956 studebaker w/ chevy bb. Been doin hot rods all my life (17yrs old).) Word on the street is that there used to be a smaller v8, made with aluminum. But I'm still trying to plan this out. What are your guys's opinions on what the fate of this car should be?

Hello everyone!!! Just wanted to take a second to to introduce myself as a new member. I just bought a 74 260Z that runs well with the original engine other the the header, straight body with some of the typical cancer but I've seen worse. The good news is that I only paid $500.00 for the car so I think I can put a little into it and be ok.... I will post some pics soon and I also will be needing some parts and advice so I am very excited to have found you. This is the second Z I have owned. I bout a 76 280Z in 1983 and ever since I sold it I have wanted another one. I am praying for lower gas prices and then it's small block time!!!! colorado260z

I drove it back from Charlotte under the power of a modified L28. Had turbo added to it but the turbo was shot and there was no intercooler. Just had the pipe routed from the turbo straight to the intake. Also the exhaust had the T3 flange welded on it and it wasn’t very pretty. After several seconds of consideration, I decided to dropped in an RB20DET. OK so maybe it was a full minute. Wanted power and fuel economy. Worked out great considering the latest fuel prices. I love these cars and probable will never get rid of mine. They just never look ugly.

Hello everyone, My name is Noe. I have been working and spending a lot of cash on this car for the past 4-5 years. I had it in a couple of guys shop and had to remove it, because I was spending monies with nothing being done. I now have it in a friend's shop and finally seeing some progress. Since then, we stripped it, sand blassted. The body kits are on and working on the bumper as we speak. I will be looking for some help. suggestions are welcome. I will attached photos to show how far we are with the car. I will be painting it Lamborghini Supperfly Yellow. I had purchased the big brake kit from the Arizona Guy.

Recently joined, this is a great club and from reading looks like there is a ton of info here. I finally was able to upload some pics of my 78 Z. I do have a question (or two) about the pwr antenna. Was this a standard item on the car when new? The guy I recently bought my car from said the pwr antenna didn't work right, so he just installed a fixed one. Is the pwr one difficult to install? I just ordered the book by Wick Humble about restoring your Z car (got that info on this site - thanks). So before the book arrives, just wondering what's involved in the pwr antenna. Thanks! Mike

Well hello everyone, I have really been enjoying the technical information and community here. Its been a blast checking out all the z's. So here we go... I bought my 71' z when I was 20 years old. The paint was cracked all over due to a really poorly done paint job. The clutch was slipping, but the interior was in pretty good shape and she ran well overall. I borrowed $800 from my then girlfriend to help pay for the car. She was a daily driver for the next 4 years. I found a great mechanic, and spent every extra dime I had fixing her up. It was a really early 71. still had the vented rear hatch and the 240z emblem behnd the rear window. Unfortunately I blew a head…
